Needing a recipe for 223 rem

I tried some TAC under a 53 gr. V-max
Remington VTR
best groups were at 25 & 26 grains although Hornady max is 25.8 my gun had no signs of pressure at 26

Best load 5 shot average 3192 fps.
53 V-max BT
26 grs. TAC
CCI BR-4 primer
OAL 2.250

And the bc on them is a huge .290 That is hard to beat with any other bullet 60gr or less.

Can they lie about specs like that? I thought I remember reading about someone testing these rounds and he said that it wasnt the .290 they claim....

I just bought a bunch of American Eagle 55gr FMJ's for the brass

I got some AE brass and for what I use it for seems to work good for me.

Do you guys crimp your rounds for a bolt action

If you crimp, does it increase pressure?

Also I just started using H322 with 36gr Varmint Grenades that work good for gophers out of my 9twist 223

Hey all, I am using a Savage model 12 233 BVSS. I have been loading some 50gr v-max's over 25gr of H 4895. Overall length is 2.290" (you will want to ensure that this isn't to long for your rifle). velocity 3188 fps 220yds .444" 3 shot group

I also have the same at 260 yds. .672" 3 shot group

I have been loading some 53gr v-max's as well but havn't settled on anything as of yet!
69gr Nolser Compatition, some good results .76" outside to outside of holes 5 shot groups. 25 gr H4895 (2.315- .320" OAL. Make sure this length works in your rifle) 100 yds. the bullet holes looked like they might have problems stabelizing but I never got the chance to shoot our further than 100 yds. velocity 2990 FPS.

I have a Stevens 200 1-9 twist Bolt gun.
My Gopher load is:

Federal 223 cases
Hornady 55gr SPSX
13.5 grains of Blue Dot
CCI Small Rifle primers
Light crimp.

I get over 500 rounds per 1 lb of Powder
Regards, Henry

55 gr V Max over 24 grains of H335 and CCI 400 primers has been very accurate for me. Also, have had good success with same bullet and 26.5 grains of CFE223 out of a Mossberg MVP 24".

No crimp. All good.
