Been on a bit of a run with the Browning hardware lately. Went thru it in my early days with Ruger, then CZ but besides one Henry all my receivers are steel and that has been some kind of unspoken rule of mine. The Henry was on a whim and it haunted me for a long time, to the point of only running .44 SPL thru it....

I work in an industrial environment and understand that alloys have their place but a White Gold Medallion BLR in .300 WSM Y/N? Actually pizzes me off a bit that I can't get a steel option even with the weight penalty. Am I just being OCD for no reason? I will shoot it plenty, most of my hunting rigs see about 500+ rounds a year down the pipe.

Reaching out for a little reassurance on aluminum receivers as I want to get the Wife a little 20ga O/U also..... ;)

Well, ignoring the oxymoron in the thread title...

Manufacturers are hyper-aware of the litigious world we live in, the aluminum and other alloy receivers have been well tested and proven their strength.

I agree with you, in that I prefer steel, but for me it is the look, feel and scratch resistance that I like, with little concern for strength.

^ This. The aluminum frame just holds the pieces together, doesn't contain the pressure.

I felt that the old steel ones were superior...until I owned and used a couple of the newer ones. The new guns shoot far better than the old.

All winchester pump shotguns (dont know about the recent ones)had an aluminum reciever due to the strength of the bolt lock up. Never heard of an issue. Mine with thousands of rounds through it never an issue. Bought it in 1987, so 30 years

My turkish made cz shotgun also aluminium receiver. No problems putting that near my face. Ar's are also aluminium they do just fine. Tikka actions sure don't feel like steel either yet lots of people use them myself included.

No need to fear the aluminum. Steel locks into steel.

I've got an aluminum reciever rifle with 15 000 rounds through it and not worried at all about it.
