NEF, H&R, or T/C Arms

I have an H&R Ultra Varmint in .223. It will shoot 1 inch at 200 yds if I do my
part. I've had it a year and a half and no complaints whatsoever. Have taken several coyotes with it out to 250 yds.

Nef remain a mystery for me a 400.00 rig that shoot with the big boys, my little Superlight 223 won't stop being accurate even after a 1000 shots. So many gophers... Just love that little rifle... JP.

I own 3 s/s T/C Contender carbines and 11 barrels.

I do not and probably will never own a NEF just to fugly to me...

I do not and probably will never own a T/C Contender. Just too expensive for me. I'm pleased you get what you like, and I'm a bit more pleased that I get what I like.

TC's are buy far superior in quality. That said NEF's can be good reliable shooters as well. They have been known to have their gliches but for the most part they are good reliable and accurate guns. The TC's have the option of switching barrels where the NEF's have to be sent back to the factory.
....

Except you can't send the NEF/H&R back to the factory for an accessory barrel unless you are in the U.S. They won't do it for us Canadians. :( Their warranty/customer service agents, The Gravel Agency, is trying to persuade them to let Gravel offer the accessory barrel program here.

I've been very lucky - found a used barrel in .308Winchester in the EE and it fitted fine on my .223 Superlight with no headspace issues, so my $400 coyote gun (bought new, before the Stevens 200 came out) is now a $550 coyote/big game rifle, and I like it.

Anyway you can buy the whole NEF rifle for the price of one TC barrel so might as well buy the whole rifle... JP.

Don't get me started on NEF firearms. Bought a new one in .243, took it home and it had no rifleing. Any company that has the ability to let a rifle roll out of the factory without rifleing won't get another dime from me.

ha:ha:ha: a .243 "shotgun"

I owned a 30-06 NEF . The hammer assembly broke after 40 shots, had to order and install an other one from brownells

Buy the TC

TC is top class i agree awaiting myself my Icon Wheatershield 308 but seeing a low end rifle with a low end scope shooting low end ammo perform top with the big boy is amusing... Cheers. JP.

Both of your automotive analogies are exagerrated. Especially the T/C Contender with an Aston Martin.

Not really. Aston Martins are a cheap ( compared to fancy custom cars ), but QUALITY car. TC's can shoot with the big boys and get sub MOA with cheap factory ammo and for only $1000. Quality, buy cheaper than $2000-$4000 rifles that can't shoot any better.

I was looking into a hnr 35 whelen but I decided to get a stevens 200 and rebarrel it. I do like there buffalo classics and watched a guy smack steel targets at 500yards. I can't say I hit any but I came damn close. For a hunting rifle I'd buy one. Just wish they'd make one in 9.3x 74

Whatever the price the main reason i shoot is to get top accuracy, using my 8 grands TRG-42 & Smidth and Bennder 5X25X56 338LM combo or my cheap 223 NEF rig... If i go .3 on 5 shots ten time in a row, i dont care how much i paid, i care how much i shoot... A nice expensive rig or cheap ugly rifle rig that doesnt shoot is a paddle... JP.

Are you getting your Aston Martins wholesale?* I've seen their quality and for that, the price is reasonable. TC Contenders are well made and accurate. They are certainly a class well above the Handi-Rifles and Ultras for finish, but I wouldn't call them the Aston Martin of guns.

*And if so, could you get me a good deal on a Bristol instead? Nothing against the Aston Martin, just the Bristol style is more me.
