:mad:Owned a .223 Handi rifle for a couple of years thought i'd help rid the Province of a few coyotes. Have'nt had a chance to get out so , only scoped it fired maybe 100 rounds .
After a sight-in session ,cleaned it , when puttin it in the gun sock, I heard a strange rattling noise inside the reciever , & find that the "transfer bar" between the hammer & firing pin had fallen off from the pin holding it, looks like it was supposed to have been Peened in place by the factory. What quality control ! Looks like a ##### to take apart to try & fix myself.
Crossed my mind to get another in a diff. cal. but now - NO WAY ! Anyone else have a prob like this , & what did you do to fix it ?????

Was the rifle reasonably accurate???
I was thinking about one in the S&W 500, not many rifles in this caliber yet, looks like a nice little rifle for the cost. Bill

N.E.F Rifles

Though it's only a .17HMR.....mine is well built and very accurate.I'm sorry to hear of your problems,I believe most are well built, mine feels like a tank with the bull barrel etc.

Have a smith fix it. They require a series of assembly pins be replaced with roll pins while being disassembled. having said that I have owned a .17HMR a .45-70 and a .30-30 ALL very very accurate and good value for the cost. Don't give up on it they are good little guns.

regards, Darryl

I have the .204 bull barrel, excellent accuracy with berger bullets, I had my smith clean up the trigger a bit. The only trouble I have had is with the extracter, so much trouble in fact that I have removed it all together until I can locate new parts.........

I have the ML version, same basic receiver. Took some tinkering, a couple custom parts, (and a little custom smithing ;)) to get it where I wanted it, but its been a fun pet project for a couple years. Light and handy.:)

Have one in .223, it's alright, no problems so far. It's not the best gun, but for the price you can't expect much. I just use it for gophers and such...

I have a .223 Superlight. It works as advertised and is excellent value. You were unlucky. Every manufacturer produces some defective products and makes some customers unlucky.
