I was given an old Lakefield/Mossberg 500 that was left in a barn or somewhere damp. The barrel is so pitted I would say it is scrap and the wood is finished. I took it apart and the receiver is ok, the shell lifter and stops while pitted are ok. The bolt surface is rusted and pitted but the firing pin slides freely and looks ok. One side of the receiver has no finish left on it yet the other side, while scratched is not bad. This model is the one where the mag tube must be removed to remove the forearm. I didn't force it as I don't have the proper tools to grasp it without damaging it. I cleaned off the surface rust and the slide moves freely. I did a function test and it feeds, extracts, and ejects properly.
What would be a fair market price for the receiver, no furniture or barrel for a project/truck gun? No photos right now.
