Never done this before,REPLY FROM LEE

Out of about 70 sets of dies, I have one Lee die. [Yes, one only] a universal decapping die.

I like RCBS, Forster and Redding, and that is what I have, with RCBS the highest percentage.

As the cost will be about the same after shipping and exchange and much faster I will use what I have or pick up something else locally.

Unfortunately, I will not likely be supporting Lee in the future due to the fact that the warranty and support is not what I expected especially when compared to the competition.

The competition does make a great product I wont argue, although 3 times I emailed lee about warranty items, and 3 times I got free replacement parts in the mail with zero hassle.
 
That is odd that they won't replace it for free, maybe they are having to replace too much stuff lately so free isn't an option anymore.
 
It doesnt look broken to me, have you tryed another case in it? Sure sounds like the jaws got stuck closed and the fingers jammed into it. Kinda why i dont like mandrel neck sizers. I just use the lee full length all the time, no difference in case life compared to neck sizing.
 
i have a couple of lee collets dies and like them. most of my lee dies have been aquired in package deals. my prefered die if i'm buying is redding followed by rcbs.
 
I did mark it when I removed the neck chunk of brass.

Totally fixable, but, it is going into file 13 , I have FL and neck sizer in that chambering in another brand so it is all good.

Not into fixing poor equipment.

That can happen as well as crushing a case if it happens to catch on the mandrel on the way in. Lube on the mandrel helps. That being said, I find the collet die way more useful than endlessly screwing around with bushings. I even made a few different sized decapping rods to size a bit bigger for cash. I sold my redding bushing dies & kept the collet.
 
I have had very good service from Lee Precision. The last time I had to contact them I had a problem with the primer feed arm on my Classic Turret press. (it was my fault).

They requested a picture of the damaged part. I sent the pic & the replacement part was in the mail the following day. Can't beat that for service. I have also had excellent service from RCBS & Hornady. However I regret to report that customer service from Lyman leaves much to be desired.
 
My one experience with Lyman was really good, long time ago though. Replaced my electronic scale with a new one, and it was long out of warranty, and it was pulled off my bench by the cord, when a rifle fell over and caught the cord.
I have had to get stuff out of RCBS maybe twice, no issues. Kershaw replaced knife handles on an AK Trader blade setup for me.I had a Hornady hand primer tool that got file 13'd, didn't bother calling them.
 
I have had them stick like that, and I was guilty of having way too much pressure. Those dies are not heat treated to spring out to size, I put a taper punch in the collet and gave it a stretch, and it was just fine. In the instructions for these dies it says do not set them so tight that the press cams over, when I did this it was pilot error...
 
Lee has always been really good to me, although I don't break much of their products. I've never been charged for anything I've sent them a picture of.

From you photos, way to much pressure was put on the die. If you return
the die it can be refurbished for 1/2 of the suggest retail price,
$20.50 + $6.00 S&H. Just return your die with a note, and payment.

A) I have done thousands of cases in this die and other neck sizers. I suddenly put too much force onto it?
B) Other manufacturers would have simply sent new parts to either rebuild or replace entirely.

I will just either buy another or use my bushing sizer, I think I will reply with a thanks but no thanks.

After exchange and duty it will be the same to buy a new complete die up here.

Think I will just stay green from now on.

I'd buy a Redding or another make. Email them back and say thanks for your response but I was hoping you would stand by your product and offer a free replacement but I'll just buy a new die from another manufacturer that does.
