Never expected to see the day when...

Yeah, but if the government would just stop trying to mingle into anything and everything... we wouldn't be in this mess, paying up the yahoo for stuff that shouldn't be that expensive.

I don't know that the government has anything to do with this powder shortage. Short supply and long demand is the issue.

And here I am try to start reloading.
f:P:

Yeah. Good ####ing timing! Lmao

I feel your pain though, I moved a few months ago so have taken a break from reloading while packing the old place and getting the new place set up, finally get to the point where I'm ready to get rolling and I can't find primers to save my life.

- Irrational gun laws that get people to stock-pile => Gif from the gov.
- Supply chain issues => so-call world pandemic => Gif from the gov.
- Employers being short-staffed, all the while the gov. is paying to stay at home => Gif from the gov.
- Inflation => Gift from the gov.

USA has much less restrictive gun laws but still the same problem of shortages.

I think I'll be riding my Road Glide more this year ....
Guys supplementing their last CERB via the EE.. I aint got time for them.

I've been sent sliding across 2 lanes of traffic last year on Aug 15 by a distracted driver
that was the worst time to get an insurance settlement
justinflation and overall prices rendered me unable to replace the motorcycle.

Yeah, best to find primers at out of the way gun shops. Shoulda started 2 years ago!

Pandemy touch us all from many ways. Cost is certainly one of those . Less personal is equal to less production. Manufacturers sold less components as they want to sell live ammos made from those same components.
Offer and demands dictate the price of goodies.
Nobody talked about a major war is going on oversea. We can suppose production lines are required to produce more military ammunitions to supportwar effort.
Considering that , we also can suppose a return to normality is expected on a farter horizon.
Many, less dedicated to the sports will leave , selling their stuff at higher price.
Old farts , who probably stocked up , will keep and rationalized their use of components.
Some sports are more impacted as they require high performance ammos with high cost components and a lot of practice.
I always promoted the use of rimfire as a good practice and progression tool. This makes more sense today.
When i began riding bikes , a tank fuelling was $2. My St-1300 would certainly cost near $40 today plus the ice cream , or beer or lunch for two and a motel ... This ain't cheap either.
We need to rationalized in those years.
Best of luck.

Well, if there is an upside to this..
1) your still above ground.
2) Not eating through a straw.
3) your still able to read and write and post at CGN.
Not dismissing your incident, but counting a few blessing that a fellow rider/CGN member is still alive and posting real life experiences.

I've still got to figure out a new handload for the Old Man's 7mm Weatherby. If not, I'll have to use my cousin's 28 Nosler to shoot my first elk, which would be a bummer.

Did you notice who's been elected in the middle of the night?
- Noticed how he's spending $ like their is no tomorrow?
- Noticed how the Dem. are always the ones trying to push more restrictive laws? (and driving up sales)

Yeah, been noticing what the dems have been doing for 40 years. As for the rest - I don't know what you're talking about, save me some time and speak clear English if you want to talk about something.

But there is no specific conspiracy against the ammo and components supply chain. That is sputtering just like everything else. Try to buy a new pickup or atv and see how that goes.

Well, sorry if my English is not up to your "standard"... so let me give you a little clue to solve the ammo-supply-riddle

Hint #1: Ammunition manufacturing exist in the same realm as ATV manufacturers and truck manufacturers
Hint #2: The factors influencing the $ and availability of ATV and truck are (you might have guessed it by now) the same that are influencing ammunition price and avaiability.

But originally you said the government was intentionally and specifically hindering ammo and component availability? That's what I responded to but seems like you changed your mind about that and have agreed with me that isn't the case. So we are gaining ground i think.

Yeah the economy shut down because of a fcked up covid response by government, not exactly breaking news.

We have experienced multiple prolonged shortages in shooting supplies in the last 20 years and should be used to it by now. In fact the only period of good multi-year uninterrupted supply in a long time was during Trump's time as POTUS. With all that prior experience, anyone over the age of 30 who was awake should be sitting on a couple year supply of components and/or ammo just out of common sense. Because we knew that is exactly what would happen if the Demoncrats won the US elections. The only difference this time is covid came along at the same time and made it worse.

Uhhh.... I didn't know they put chips in primers?

There's a global microchip shortage right now that is having a massive impact on the products that require them - cars, atvs etc.

Also, Ford isn't diverting F150 Lightnings to fill or attempt to win government contracts thanks to a war in Europe.

So no, i don't think it's reasonable to compare ammo with cars and atvs.

That's true but it is reasonable to say supply chain issues of one sort or another are affecting almost everything in our lives at the moment. The chip shortage is a supply issue, the Ukraine conflict also affects supply. Throw in the covid shutdown of industry, Biden's election and anti-gun rhetoric and subsequent panic buying, shortages of raw materials and skilled labour - it's a perfect storm.

The only reason its crazy is because people have no issue paying these prices. Retailers know what shooters will pay in 2022 and I doubt prices will ever go back to pre covid prices.
