My question is,
how some of you will feel when you come form church on Sunday and find some 20 empty cases from 50BMG on your lawn. Would you laugh about?
I would most likely investigate how they end up on my lawn.

I'd figure it's just one of my good buddies or neighbors leaving me a present. The next Sunday I would would say an extra prayer in gratitude for my good fortune:)

I guess a few calls and a letter would be in order with Hilton.
I for one think the RCMP that made the investigation didn't do his job correctly or was lazy. It would have took 5 minutes to look on CPIC, CFC to know about Firearms, ATTs. They shouldn't have to call you once they had that info. It's SURE he have run a CPIC search. There is no way he didn't do that since you could have be under warrent or something.

My 2cents.

ssssss

Im not sure how I feel about what they did. Did the clerks know what you guys were doing in town?? I just cant help but think, if it was a bad guy staying in that room, it would have been good to know, on the other hand, they gave out your personal info and thats a breech of our privacy laws.........tough one for me

I travel quite a bit, and often buy "gun stuff" when I'm on the road. I NEVER leave a trace of "evidence" of this "gun stuff" in a hotel room when I leave. No packaging, no receipts, nothing. It's not a matter of being "paranoid", it's just avoiding a hassle. You don't walk into a blast furnace. Like it or not, we ARE pariahs in 2006 Canada and that isn't going to change any time soon. Common sense doesn't enter into the equation. Would "bad guys" go on a shooting spree and leave their empty ammo boxes in the hotel room...? Well of course not. The new culture is to squeal on our neighbours. The hotel cleaning person was just being what he/she considered to be a "good citizen". Let's chalk one up to the New Canada. :(

NO NO AND NO!!

Why should we hide???

It is attitudes like this that will lead to our demise!!

We need to be IN YOUR FACE!!!

I would be calling the Hilton right the hell back and demanding a FREE STAY!!

Exactly right. When we hide ,we look suspicious. When we're out of the closet, they have to deal with us.

I remember the IPSC 1990 Nationals in Aurora when we took over the hotel bar and played our videos of the days shooting throughout the evening ... I’m still surprised that a SWAT team never show up.

All the same, with all the street shootings, et al out there, I'm not surprised that the hotel staff didn't report something 'unusual'. Condoms and blood are unfortunately normal by-products in hotels ... empty bullet boxes (or worse for those of us checking reloads and chucking the cracked cases before/after a match) are a bit more unusual. The venomous scrutiny of the media is worse that a ##### by a legitimate shooter for any business owner.

Soounds to me like there is a freebee here for somebody. I certainly would remind the Hotel Manager that giving out personal information without a warrant breaches Privacy Laws in Canada.

Take Care

Incidentally... without a warrant I believe its a violation of privacy laws for your phone # to be given out.

Nope. Not to the police.

Ditto again.

If they did this to me, I'd be calling the hotel chain and filing an offical complaint. I'd be up there shouting in the manager's face, doing all the operatic hand movements, you know, finger-to-chest foaming-at-the-mouth and everything, especially with what Canuck44's said about privacy laws.

"...Why in f**king hell should I be held accountable for a few f**king pieces of cardboard that merely say, "AMMUNTION?" Maybe I should give my family a cardboard box that says, "PRESENT" on it and expect them to dance around with joy. And here you go, blabbing about my personal information simply because I had a few pieces of cardboard left in my room - what, is cardboard too heavy for your maids to lift and put in the garbage?"

I am really surprised that the moderators of this forum haven't asked you to remove your childish tagline considering the acronym that you so proudly display. It is this type of activity that gives legitimate posters of this forum a bad name.

I can't help thinking that if this conversation would have happened here in the GTA, you would have been having it in an interrogation room, while wearing handcuffs and waiting for your lawyer to arrive.

Paranoia....

Frankly I think a nice and blunt letter to the Hiltons might have the desired effect. At least being a pissed off customer, they might comp you another stay at a future date.

Imagine getting a call form the donkey wallopers because some emty boxes were in the trash. Imagine what they might have done were it an empty vibrator box. They would have sent in the perp squad and taken you down but good. Seriously, send a letter to the Hiltons directly and see what shakes out
