These are pictures taken by my wife's grandfather on the Eastern Front from between 1941 and 1945. He passed a few years ago and these were his own personal pictures so they're unseen by anyone but family. This man saw a lot of action and the pictures bear that out. I figured you guys would appreciate them.

Thanks Rattus:
My grandfather never any pictures of his experience. When he got out of the POW camp all he had was his clothes.
Its stuff like this will keep those experience 'Real ' for the rest of us.

Super pics, makes you wonder how much "unknown" documentation of the wars are still out there in private hands. Hopefully more and more of this stuff comes into general circulation in the future.

There are some, I believe german, web site's that shows tousands of private pictures taken by german soldiers, while on the "Eastern Front", which has been available previously in these fine pages.

Lots of pictures of funeral services and graves......

No, no more. Like many German-Canadian immigrants he destroyed a lot of his memorabilia before he came because, well, he was worried about how Canadians would react. He apparently had photos of himself with Hitler. Walter Krause was wounded at least 3 times and the story is he met Adolf Hitler at some point during his convalescence. Fortunately for Walter, he was captured in Austria (I think) and ended up working on a French farm for a little over a year before being released. It beat the crap out of 10 years in a Russian POW camp.

That was very true my grandfather (now dead) was VERY worried and left all his nazi stuff with his mother

after he was settled in he had the stuff sent over

Not many pics thru as he ditched most of his stuff when he fled berlin in 1945 2 days before it fell to the russians

I do have all his ID including the french/german surrender documents, helmet cutlery and a few badges and other nazi documents

Nice pics thru thanks for shareing!

The one photo looks like Waffen SS HQ in perhaps Kharkov. Lots of staff cars and standard military pattern vehicles orderly parked at it's front. Another shows possibly an identification chart of tanks on the wall of their field wet mess. No doubt other more educated will point out info from other pics too. I do like the unusual kit some of the men wore or used. These are very good, thanks for sharing!
