never shot trap before

i would like to see the angle set for a few shots then set for a different amount of deflection. I agree the straight away can often be deceiving.
Actually my son did about the best i have seen at straight aways from a small portable trap. He was about 11 years old and shooting a 410 barrel on one of the old Savage combination guns. It was his first time with a shotgun. His uncle and I were using a Baretta SxS in 12 ga. and he was high shooter. How he did so well with the rifle sights blocking the view was something else. I guess young eyes helped.
Now that he has aged a bit, he is 35 , I have no trouble beating him.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Well for me, I like to keep things simple.
My mantra goes like this

SEE THE BIRD
UNDER THE BIRD
BREAK THE BIRD

My whole break down goes like this

My feet are set in concrete. I never move them once I get set
My aim points on the trap house are usually the same
I consider the barrel of my gun a big paint brush. That way I don’t stop my gun
I concentrate on a smooth swing.. No jerking the gun

Who here is shooting this weekend in Calgary?
I don’t plan on doing much shooting this year as I just got back from My Brown Bear hunt in Alaska.
So since I like it so much, I will be volunteering on Saturday.

See you all out there

Jamie
