New 1 mile long range soon to be open

Here are some range pics from my first visit out. This is a little before some of the work, ie gravel, benches, and steel. But you get a good idea of the fantastic layout!!

Going up to the elevated shooting positions.

Access down to the short range (25-50m).

Intended as an Archery Range, but maybe we can convince them that it should be a short range pistol bay!!

Looking down from the long range shooting position into the short range (25-50m) and you can see the 360 degree shoot house, that's right, a 360 shoot house. Gun games here we come!!

Looking out from the shooting positions over 100-500m range.

Looking out at the Long range 200-1600m

Here is a quick video walk through I took when I was out there.

Warning: There may or not be some colourful language when describing the CFO mandated ground baffles at the shooting position. Please insert your on bleep as I don't know how.

Sorry about the quality. Iphone and compressed.

So, no prone shooting off the ground? You have to shoot from a bench?

We tried to accommodate prone shooting as we built 10 foot long benches so u can shoot prone off the top or from a sitting position. Get a coffee at Tim's and head out and look for yourself, by the time your coffee is done you will be there, even take a toy with you and try out the benches.... Feel free to come up with a better design as the CFO wanted all ground to be dead so hence the ground baffle... Take a blanket so you don't get slivers

Looks excellent. I think it looks like a great range to shoot at and have some fun gun games as well. I hope to get out there soon.

Toofar2late has put a lot of work into organizing this development. As a director at CHAS, I know how many hurdles and headaches it takes to accomplish anything at a range or with the CFO. A HUGE thank you for all the time and effort that went in to getting this built as well as to the others involved.

There is still plenty of other work that still needs to be done out there though and funds required to do it. Edson Fish and Game is offering discounted lifetime memberships for 2014 at $1,000. This range is restricted approved. This means you will never have to worry about an expired membership on you RPAL submission every again. For 2015, the lifetime membership goes back to $1,500. This is a promotion to try to get some money together to complete some of the remaining work like the structures over the shooting positions. Anyone interested should contact Toofar2late to set it up. I have mine!

You can bet that the current $80 annual membership is going to increase next year, hell they have more facility than any other range in western Canada now. Can you imagine once its done!

I really wish the CFOs would piss off and mind their own business. Once I sort out some personal issues I'll come look. Pretty sure it'll irritate me and I'll just keep using my field. No baffles, elevated, no benches, good to a mile, and free. This range is in the middle of nowhere, and shooting will be done from an elevated platform. Not sure why he has to power trip and make things all stupid. I'm happy that people can shoot though, don't get me wrong. A ton of work went into this, and it will be an asset to our community.

Thanks for the great update and all the work with the range. I wish I wasn't so far in PEI Canada. Someday I'll pack up the long range rifle and come for a visit. Congratz and best wishes.
