So as i take down the rifle for the first time the bolt stop pin and the 2 reciever cross pins and the mag latch pin all fell out.

This was alittle suprising to say the least, I was expecting to be able to set the action down before removing any pins. then the mag plunger and spring went flying out with the release.

So I've gotten it back together thats not the problem. This is my first 10/22 and my first time tinkering with one. so i don't know what the pin tolerance is supposed to be.

Is this to loose? When i rock the rifle side to side you can hear the pins hitting the stock.

Ugh... Man, this to me is a perfect shining example of modern firearms manufacturing at it's worst. Chintzy tolerances. Whatever happened to thousandths of an inch? Shamefull.

Stuff like this has me collecting old guns.

I'm new to the 10/22 as well and was a little surprised when I took it apart and found the pins were so lose. However, after putting it back together it worked fine. It seems that it is pretty common with these guns.

I have 4 10/22s. On three of them the pins fall out when you take the stock off. The one that doesn't was made in the early 90s. The ones that do were made in 71, 86 & 08........

Normal, always has been, shoot it and have fun!

Cheers!

I have built and owned quite a few 10/22's
The pins are always a hit and miss as far as "fit" goes.
The bolt stop pin usually is no problem (I replace those with a quality buffer rod anyway) but the trigger group to receiver pins can be a problem.
You can always buy some slightly larger O.D. drill rod and make your own pins that fit nice and snug if need be! ;)
