OK...I picked up a new 10/22 all weather stainless today. I put 200 rounds through it and had a lot of fun. Now, what do I do next? How often should I clean it? Also, how can I m ount a bipod to it. There isn't a swivel on it?

First of all "how does it shoot!!!!"

I recommend a bolt buffer as a first mod, cheap and you will see a great improvement.

followed closely with a trigger job, good scope, high cap mags.... ect... these should keep you busy while you shop for a stock/barrel.

as you already know the possibilities are endless with your newly aquired toy....

I clean it after every trip to the range, usually that is no less than 400 rounds.

try not to lube the action. and if you feel you must, use dry lube.

just my .22 cents;)

Good advice. Although IMHO if you want reliablity I'd avoid the high cap mags and stick with the standard ruger mags.

yes... the standard ruger mag is as reliable as they get.... But, As a Noob (don't take it the wrong way) To the "10/22 world" You have got to give a (Butler Creek Steel Lips) high cap mag a try, they are a blast!!!

Of course, I bought one of these too:) Unfortunately I had a LOT of feeding problems. I saw a fix for it. Maybe I'll give it a try!

At the very least, buy many 25 round mags, and a red dot. A bushnell red dot.

I have never, never had any probs with the 4 "hot lips" mags I've have. thousands and thousands of rounds. :D

Here she is

And some more of my impulse shopping today. The 3200 I bought as a reward when I passed my exams. I haven't mounted it yet. It's a 10X40 so I'm not sure if I should put it on the 10/22.

And 200 rounds of Remington .22LR Thunderbolts. I was doing well until the scope fell off :D

Don't forget to try lots of different ammo, It may help For your feeding problems and overall accuracy.

if not try the quick fix I posted in the 10/22 sticky;)

Congrats on the new toy. The only comment I would have is to lose the Thunderbolts. Possibly the dirtiest ammunition out there:( . Try some other brands and I am sure you wont be disappointed.
Most importantly, have fun with it!:D
Cheers
dB:)

I would try some Winchester Power Points; they work great in mine and are rather accurate for the price. I used to use Thunderbolts until I had a brick that had probably 1 in 10 that would FTF.

The dealer said they cycled the best with a 10/22

Thunderbolts are my 10/22's favorite ammo. No jams in the last box of 500. It was clean when I started, pretty messy now.

I took her apart and cleaned her. There is some hard to get at filth in the receiver. What's the best method to get at it, toothbrush?
