New 1895SBL pics and checkering question for ya

Hi everyone,
Got a new 1895SBL (thanks Wolverine) thought I would show it to ya.
I am very happy with it. The metal fit and finish is excellent, It cycles perfectly.
The sights seem to be right on at 100m using 350gr full power loads. (Range test wasnt all that
accurate, more of a "lets go fire this thing!!" kind of trip) The rear peep is a bit open, or maybe too close to me, its a bit fuzzy
Probably not an issue if your eyesight is newer than mine
The only thing I can complain about is the butt stock fit up is not the best.
and the butt stock checkering is very shallow compared to the fore grip, and compared to the
walnut 1895 next to it.
Has anyone ever deepened the checkering on a laminate stock? Is this doable?

PS has a cool fire ball at the muzzle compared to the 22" barrel!!

I think you should switch the stocks around. That SBL would look pretty sharp with some walnut!

Actually, you can easily deepen the checkering on the butt with a single point checkering
tool. The pattern is already there for ye to follow, just take yer time on 'er.
