New 1911 two tone with pics

"Are you kidding? The extended release is the best thing even happened to 1911!"

If it matters it is illegal for use in IDPA.

Take Care

Bob

It's very nice to be able to release slide without adjusting hand position.

I must have a short thumb or what?

First thing I'd do is swap out the lame extended slide stop for a standard one just like I did on my Norc NP-29 [single stack 1911A1 in 9mm].............

No, actually I'm not kidding...... Notice I call it a "slide stop" not a "slide release"? It locks the slide open after the last shot is fired & the mag is empty. Solution is remove empty mag, insert full mag, rack slide with the hand over the top of the rear of the slide to release it. No need to touch the slide stop, so adjusting hand position is moot.

You need move your left hand to the slide to rack slide while I start shooting already :)

Handled one of the new series 'enhanced' two tone Norc 1911A1's today at a local gunshow. Dealer had it on his table for $399.... While I'd still rather have the bone stock USGI copy/version, if I was to go for one of these newbies it would be the all blued version. Don't like the looks of the two tone in person. Love the new sites, very functional. Barrel looks nicely throated.

But the lame extended slide stop definitely has to go!

That's the reason....

I guess the extended slide stop is not really useful to lefties.

I don't even prefer and ambi-safety either.

The 1911 is just fine the way John Browning designed it and it ended up in it's final 1911A1 form.... with the exception of maybe a little higher profile site picture.

"An extended slide release is the second "most worthless" thing you can add to a gun. The first "most worthless" is an ambidextrous extended slide release!" - Bill Wilson
One of my favorite quotes, personally I prefer to deactivate the slide lock altogether, so it makes it kind of a mute point.

Wilson, now there's a man that knows his 1911's..... ;)

I added an extended safety and slide stop release to my Nork, they were both Stainless, I slowly ground them down to about half their size, which was perfect for my hand. Much faster to aqquire than the stock size, without being in the way either. Stainless is nice as you don't need to worry about coating it.

Tried mine today, 3 inch group at 18 yards. The Norc shoots better than me.
