New .22 Pistol on the Market - Smith and Wesson SW22

Sorry if we're hitting a re-post, but didn't see it.

As in the above, it looks like Smith is trying to build some hype ahead of SHOT. Haven't been interested in a .22 for some time, but this one has me.

5.5 inch barrel
10+1
Single screw takedown, noted for "easy barrel changes."

Though I'll need to see it on the proving grounds, Smith has never failed me out of thevery gate.

Hopefully the vendors are already cooking on this one.

Thoughts?

Apparently the 22A1 is discontinued. It had some flaws. This looks like it solved them. Now I would love to see if have the ribbed square barrel of the 22A1.

Looks pretty nice I have a 22a1 and a buck mark this looks like a cross between the two. S&w web site says $ 409 wonder what they will sell for here in canada

I got a 22/45 and a 22A1, I like the 22A1 minus the barrel lock up.

It is not just you that thinks it's freakin' ugly.

I don't agree though that it's not worthy of the logo. Given the disaster that S&W has had with semi-auto pistols in general, and rimfire pistols in particular, it seems a very fitting successor.

It has a little bit of that 'Ugly Duckling' thing going on, but if you're design-inclined, you'll actually see the beauty in the thing. I know it's not all original, but it's better than the previous target model. Hell, with the prices of Rugers as they are today, I'll take some solid competition.

Best part: because it's functionally like the old Smith, there shouldn't be any issues. Well...operative term is 'shouldn't'.

It would be good to have a super lite short barrel and a super huge bull barrel for the same gun.
The Ruger is easy to strip and reassemble without tools if you know how, I don't like the idea of a takedown screw.
If it felt really good in the hand and was super accurate, I'll just keep in in the gunsafe with a paper bag over it's head.
