Im buying a new bolt action .243 for around $700. I like the Tikka T3 Lite

What do you think Tikka or Ruger?
 
I'd love a stainless Ruger in the pepper laminate stock in .243....:cool:

Hi. The Ruger's rifling twist is 1 in 9, the T3's is 1 in 10. I'd opt for the slightly faster twist. It'll stabilize heavy bullets(85 grains and up) a bit better. Unless you want a detachable mag. T3 mags start at $89.99Cdn though.
 
They are both great rifles, but are very different. The Ruger is heavy, tough, and can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. They are typically quite accurate. The Tikka is lightweight, slick, smooth, and a finely tuned instrument. Tikka's are usually VERY accurate.
 
Got to go with Ruger on this one. Always heard good things about Tika but i don't think i could stand seeing one in my safe everytime i opened it. Those guns are ugly.

The Tikka looks better the more you shoot it. It is not just accurate, smooth and with a great trigger, it is actually a tough all terrain rifle. I like my rugers, but somehow I grab my Tikka most often.

I have both, 2 Rugers and 1 Tikka. I'll say the Rugers look better, but don't function nearly as well as the T3 in my opinion. The T3 is more accurate, smooth. Even though the LC6 trigger is the best Ruger has offered, it doesn't compare to the trigger in a Tikka.

All that being said, I can't say that one is more comfortable than the other between the 2.

look at Rem 700sps varmint or T.C. venture predator ,700 comes ss,lam.or SPS synth, look way nicer than tikka.

I just may find that out and let you know,I've narrowed my next varmint purchace down to the Rem 700,Savageor T.C. we'll see which one fits best,oh and the Ruger also.I don't know anything about the T.C. venture though so if any info out there I'ld appreciate that.
