Hmmm... interesting from a price perspective. It's really more of a 'carbine' as it's offered in 9mm, 40S&W, or 45ACP. Suggested retail price on their website was from $274 to $390, but you'll likely have to add $250 for importation. How's that compare to the Berretta CX-4?

They were restricted. Hi Point has said they will consider a run of longer barrel rifles if the distributors can convince them there is enough demand. The barrel cannot be changed after manufacture for some reason.

They determined that trying to disassemble the barrel would damage the receiver I believe?

A much cheaper alternative to the storm but you'd still be stuck with FIVE round magazines :p

why would it be a 5 round mag it uses pistol style mags like the cx4 it holds 10 rounds.

pistol style, but the mags provided with the carbine are made specifically for the gun.

The carbine uses mags that are different from any current pistol(unlike 92=cx4 mags). Hence, 5 round mags.

As soon as I saw this thread, I thought "hi-point." As soon as I saw "hi-point" I was out.

Good luck to anyone who wants one, but I wouldn't personally touch one with SOMEONE ELSE'S ####... :p

What the guy below me said :D

If they made the Hi-Point Carbine able to take the Hi-Point Pistol magazines than that'd be a plus.

The fact that trying to disassemble the stock barrel will DAMAGE the receiver really raises anybodys concern on the build quality of this.

If Norinco cloned the CX4 maybe it'd be worth a shot ...oops I just hit somebodys funny bone by saying that :p

Maybe I'll change my mind about the Hi-Point Carbine when I see one for myself :)

I have one of the hi-point carbine and it's a great shooting gun. I also have the cx4 storm. For the price you pay for the Hi-point it's a good deal.

I have a hi-point .45 ACP and I have no complaints. I don't know why the primadonna attitude towards them, they had their problems initially but the latest ones aren't to shabby, if you need a gun to bang around this is it, not everyone is into safe queens, some of us just like the convenience of not tippitoeing around a pistol and crying when it gets scuffed, call me cheap but cheap is good sometimes.

At the end of the day the vast majority of us do not use any of our pistols for world class competition or any competition for that matter or any other puropse than to throw lead down range. If it goes in the general direction i'm pointing at and goes bang I'm happy.

They are ugly as all hell... but if non-restricted and for under $400 I'd consider one :)

CX4's are easily over $1000 and Restricted!!
