supposing I were thinking of adding a blued/walnut bolt rifle in 30-06 to the cabinet seeing as it's the 100th birthday of the old warhorse.....which one should I get?:D

...this should be good:)

I'm torn between the CDL, M70 Super Grade, M70 Featherweight, Savage American Classic and the Browning A-Bolt Medallion. I'm looking at something blued with a wood stock and made by an American maker. Still haven't made up my mind.

blued/walnut?
Personally I'd go with the new Remington CDL SF 100 year anniversary if I didn't just buy a 30-06 off you:D

You should put the 30-06 in an action that has been around as long as it has. Either a 98 mauser or a springfield. With a classic wooden stock of course and rust blue all the metal work.

With your skills? If I had 1/10 of your skills there is no way I would be buying one. Here is what I'd do:

1. Sweet talk bevan into building you a Chromoly 1:10 rem sporter contour @ 24" (if he has none, call Ron Smith up).

2. Order up a Serengetti Walnut Laminate AA Claro w/all the bells and whistles.

3. Scab one of your 1 million Rem 700 actions, square it up and throw it and the tube in your hot blue tank.

4. Have ccan bed it for you, mount a nice Leupold 6x36 Gloss in gloss Talley Vertical split rings

5. Shoot it a few times and sell it to me cheap (GRIN)!!!!!

Sounds like an easy way to a sweet '06 to me....pay the old cartridge the tribute it deserves. Afterall, without it we would not have the 280AI (grin)!

What about building a custom Springfield '03? It would be a nice classic if built in the style of the era they were popular. For off the shelf, I like the Winchester 70 Super Grade.

Why are people recomending a CDL?

it's SATIN blued, looks almost as cheap as an SPS. nice stock and all, but I can;t get over that matte finnish. ruins the rifle.

if you want custom, 280's suggestion has some serious Merrit ;)

This is the stock I'd use on a custom Springfield:
