Just got a new 300 Rum I am looking for some good hand load info if anybody has some 150 -165 grain not impressed with the berger bullets so any thing else would be great
 
Try 180gr and up I have a sendero in this cal. The Rems have a 1in10 twist and like the heavier bullets.
I found mine liked the Hornady interbonds but I know you don't want to hear it my best group was with 185 Bergers.
 
I shoot the new Nosler E Bullets 180gr with 80.0 gr of IMR 4350 and a Fed.GM215M primer.This is a max. load so start lower and work up.In the Nosler # 5 Manual it says that with 180 gr bullets IMR-4350 and the Fed.215 Primer gives almost bench rest accuracy.
 
I messed around with the lighter bullets for a bit in my 300RUM now I only load high BC or Swift A-Frame 200gr bullets @ 3250fps.

Check out Retumbo/RL22/RL25 powders... :)

Of course that only applies to the rifle that they used to develop the loads.And imr-4350 is far too fast to obtain the maximum velocity possible with the 300RUM.
 
What twist is the barrel?

10" twists are for very heavy bullets... 220-240 grain. Also, what Berger bullet? They make many 30 cal variants. Don't blame the bullets, blame the combination of barrel harmonics, twist rate and bore-groove tolerances. Bergers are outstanding bullets, the bullet you chose is likely incomaptible with the setup you have..
 
I know a guy who shot an elk with 300 Ultra and 210gr Berger vld. not good results. Stick to a controlled expansion bullet, like Partition or TSX/TTSX. 180 or 200gr accubond should do ok too
 
The 300 ultra velocities will exceed the structural integrity of any standard cup and core bullet. Boat tail cup and core bullets are even more likely to let go.

Choose wisely.
 
I load 168 grain tsxs with 103 grains of retumbo and a cci 250. This is a compressed max load and back off a little to start.
