New 35 cal needed?

With all the new cal's coming out, Ultra, super, short mag, wssm. Is there a need for a new 35 cal thumper. WE have the great 35 Whelen, 358 Win, 35 Rem, 350 rem and 358 STA off the top of my head(forgive me if I missed any).
I guess my question is, could we use a new 35 cal thumper? or is the cal already in good shape.

ps. If a new 35 has come out and I missed it please forgive my boneheadedness, the kids are keeping me from surfing the net as much as I like.

It is a question and I thank you for your answer. The Whelen is one of the most loved cal's on this site. I cannot remember one bad post about it and there is usually some guy who says your FAV Smokes Hawg. The Whelen is at the top of my want list.

The 358 Norma Mag makes the 35 Whelen pale in comparison,when it comes to performance,but the 35 Whelen is a grand cartridge,nonetheless.
 
big cased 35 cals are somewhat pointless when you see that one one side they're bordered by the big 338s, with their superior ballistic coefficients, and on the other side, the 375s, with their heavier bullet weights

I concur, I see no advantage to the .35 bore unfortunately... .338 whoops it for anything where reach is required, and .375 pushes bigger slugs more efficiently. That said, .35 W. is a very efficient cartridge, and the basal hydraulics and bullet weights are perfect for the case. BC's bite though... Not my first choice. :)
 
I personally am very fond of the .35s. They are every bit as good as any .338 and always slightly better. I have shot moose with them and bears. I am always impressed with the performance. As for having enough of them, I still see a use for the longe range men for a .35/378 longshooter. And one I have been thinking of for myself is a .35 made on the 9.3x74R case and fired from a good single or double rifle. There may not be a great need for these rounds, but they would surely be effective and useful rounds. My mind starts to wander to thoughts of building a .35/74R on a Ruger #1 whenever anyone talks about 35s. That would be a gun that would do anything I need doing, and I can't think of much with more uses.

I did a little looking at the 358 STA and WOW, one posted load was giving 3250fps with a 225 Nosler Ballistic Tip. Would it be worth jumping up to this custom thumper instead of getting a 338. I just kinda like the looks of the 35's and the 358 STA looks like a good one. I know it would be a costly little number but money aside, worth making the jump too.

I tried both of them and the 9,3x62 does have a slight edge over the 35 Whelen,since 9,3mm bullets have a higher SD and BC and the range of bullets in the 9,3 goes from 158gr (I just got them for x-mas)all the way to 320gr.I believe it to be more versatile,but that's my opinion.;)
