I have wanted to play with a 35 Remington for a while now and out of the 20 or so lever guns I have owned, I have never owned a 336 Marlin. Well after posting a want ad in the EE this baby was on its way about an hour after posting. I guess I needed a 35 to round off the collection or maybe it was an excuse just to spend money :)

Edit:
Thanks Tangroup for making me pay full price for a gun that has been molested and has a cracked stock, and not telling me it had any of these issues. Good for you though, you doubled your money in less than one month by pulling off the stunt you did.

Pm me for load data, if you're interested.;)

Is it your old one, or just a look alike :D

I guess they probably all look the same other than some different wood etc....

I guess those were your stairs, you were not kidding  Time for carpet man :p :D

Thanks for all your help and honesty agilent_one, you are a true CGN

Marlin 336 in .35 remington

well Crazy Davey , congrats are in order , I've had one of these rifles for 34 years now , mine has the half mag., and checkering on the pistol grip, and a recoil pad , mine seems to favor winchester power points , 200 grain factory , some handloads would be worth the effort though , Davey these are great bush guns , I have taken several whitetail with mine from 80 yards to 120 yards , one shot is all it should take , Marlin builds a tough strong gun , the .35 is also good for bear or moose ,it's limitations are about 150 yards though. At 100 yards if you have the gun shooting 2 1/2 to 3 inches high , your'e zeroed at 150 yds. I have a fixed 4x scope on mine , it's just a bush gun , so higher powered scope isn't neccessary , that gun should come up to your shoulder quick , it's got more punch then 30-30 .but it's easy to shoot, they are good guns and should years of service from it , problem free , good choice , good luck .... thanks Joe

35 Rem in a 336 is a joy to carry in the bush---good medicine on bear ,moose, and deer. I've got the same gun with the ballard rifling barrel and had bought it for the boy to carry but have become rather fond of it so I think he's oughta luck. By far the sweetest carrying gun I own.

Be sure to try some 220 gr Speer Flat Points in your rifle. They were always very accurate in my two Marlins, and hit like the proverbial Hammer of Thor!

Thanks guys!

I have recently found out some very dissapointing details about this rifle and I am going to be trying to resolve the problem soon. I have run into a small string of bad luck with buying and selling on CGN lately and am starting to get pretty pissed at some very poor buyers and sellers that have royaly f**ked me.

Sorry guys, I will update you later. I was excited to get this 35 and start playing with something a bit different, now not so much :(

I will be posting full details later. I just got off the phone with Agilent one and he will be sending me some information soon.

The seller of this rifle to me is a liar, and a overall very bad person to deal with and I have all the proof I need in emails and PM's.

Why cant people just be honest :bangHead:

Why did you leave positive feedback if he screwed you over? Not to be rude just curious?

He was quite concerned that I did that ASAP. My mistake and I have asked mods to remove it if they could. I never should have done that and it will never happen again.

I have never done that before, and I shouldn't have listened to him and waited until the appropriate time :bangHead:

I'll post some details as soon as I can. I sent some info to our Mod-friends for review. We'll see what happens.

I can vouch for Dave as well, he is definitely one of the good guys.

You can PM me for info if you want, though......

(I owned the rifle previous to the guy who sold it to Dave.)

And like sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives.

The details:

I recently had a hankerin to play with a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington. I posted in the EE looking for one and in no time had a PM saying that there was one on Firearmscanada for $450. I went over and had a look and it sparked my interest. I came back to CGN to find a PM from Tangroup saying he had one for $425. I asked it was the same rifle I just looked at and he said it was.

I asked if there was anything wrong with the rifle, or things that I should know about. His response was:
No issues with this. She is a pleasure to handle and shoot.

I figured the price was a bit high, but if there was nothing wrong with it like Tangroup said, I would be happy with it. I sent the money and he sent the firearm, all very quick.

Later that night I made this thread with the four pics I recieved from Tangroup. Then Agilent one chimed in saying it was his recently sold rifle, so I proceeded to ask him some questions by PM. This is where I find out the rest of the story.

Agilent ones for sale post from one month ago:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=131754

The rifle sold for $215 with the buyer being aware of all the small problems it had, and eight pictures were sent his way as well showing the problems in detail. $215 is a fair asking price for a rifle with a few issues as long as the buyer is aware of them.

Very soon after that sale the gun went back up for sale for $450 on FAC untill I came along three weeks later.

Now there is no way I ever would have paid the price I did if I would have known the problems it had. The most I would have offered is $300, probably not even that much.

So with the details I now had I sent a polite email to Tangroup asking him why he never told me of these issues. I told him that they were a concern to me and I never would have paid his asking price had I known. I also asked why he only sent me the four good pictures and not the other four showing the problems.

His response was this:

Dave,

I am sorry you dont like the Marlin. I did take this to the Oshawa range
and just fired it a few times to make it worked. I didnt even know there is
a crack in the stock. The previous owner didnt make me aware of this, and I
apologize. As soon as any gun arrives, I store right in the safe. Where is
the crack? As far as "double the price" I believe I paid $400 + or - on
this. I honestly looked for the price I paid, and believe it is that
figure. The postage to send to you cost $24.75. I just recovered the money
I spent. As far as the deal we made, I accomodated you as much as possible.

It is a second hand gun, and with all second hand guns I purchase there are
things that obviously show wear and modifications. No I did not modify
this, and got this the way it is now. When I purchase guns and expect a
brand new condition, I expect to pay brand new prices.

Please try shooting the gun and see how you like it. If it is anyone that
deceived, it is the seller that sold me the gun as he did not mention there
was a crack as you say.

If anyone would like me to explain further I can.

Thank you so much to Agilent one for being very honest with me and sending me all of the origional for sale posts and PM's. You sir are a true CGN :canadaFlag:

I remember when Agilent One posted it for sale and he was very truthful and to the point about its condition. I was going to make an offer in fact.

Thanks Win94.

I was very descriptive and careful about my description of the rifle when I sold it to Tangroup, as there were several things wrong with it. I sold it for $215, shipped because of this.

The guy who sold me the rifle (another CGN) was also ultra-honest and a member I hold in high regard. :)

The seller told Dave that he was never informed about any flaws, and thus has called my honesty into question. I'll let a lot of things slide (especially on the inter-web) but where I'm from: Them's fightin' words.

The mods have been provided the info, plus I will give them access to any and all correspondence/pics.

Daves a good guy, he doesn't deserve this.
