I've been trying to find a stainless Ruger Bisley wiht a 5.5" barrel for years, but no luck- apparently Ruger only made a small run of them.

So I finally decided to just go ahead and buy a blued one wih a 7.5" barrel, and maybe I will get it bobbed sometime int he future.

Of course, there arent' many available in Canada, so I called up my good friend tod bartell at his gun store, and had him order me one. Shoudl be here in the spring...

I'll load it up with hard cast bullets and take er out bear hunting in he good ol USA.

Nice choice Gatehouse  Check out the bullet barn for good cast bullets for it. Nice people. Also I just got a cabellas catalogue wholey cripes they have a slew of holsters/belts etc of every size shape and style. I kind of like the leather cross draw units designed for hunting ...:dancingbanana:

They will ship it to you , forget the numbers exactly, like 1.5 thou over size, and just take your time, lap it by hand till it fits all the way, mine came with a set screw, in addition to the standard way they lock into place with the spring loaded thingy on the gun there:D ;) Like my english:)
The only reason I did it , was when cocking , it would hang up a bit at time (new gun) and this fixed it, and removed all slup.

Gatehouse Ruger just within the last 6 months released another run of the Acusport Bisley's in .45Colt. I think I saw one at Buffalo Gun Centre a while back. Contact Acusport for a list of their dealers in the US, Rays Bait & Tackle is a dealer as is Buffalo Gun Centre. If you're lucky there should be some around. Leroy's will do the exporting or Questar. Jump on it you should be able to find one, I waited over a year for them to come out. Probably be cheaper to chop down a blued Bisley in the end though.

This is mine, and I'm keeping it :D. The pic doesn't show the new rear sights, Bowen Rough Country, well worth the cash.

I am confused

I am confused as I have a 45 Colt but I do not have a 45 LC. What is a LC? If it is a 45 Long Colt, the designation never happened. it is true that the US issued a shorter version of the 45 Colt for use in early S&W revolvers and 1873 Colts but there never was a 45 Long Colt. I am just setting the record straight. Regards, Richard:D

I got asked this same thing the other day. 45 Colt is what it is called, plain and simple.

Richard is right, the 45 Long Colt designation never happened......

Sometimes the Smith & Wesson Schofield chambered for the shorter .45 Smith & Wesson gets used as an arguement to designate the two apart. One is a 45 Colt and the other is a 45 Smith and Wesson, simple.

I think the "Long" designation is useful when we need to differentiate between the .45 and the .45 ACP.

agreed.
I only say ".45 Long Colt" because I've actually heard about 10 people refer to .45 ACP as ".45 Colt"

I just say ".45 ACP" or ".45 Auto"
and ".45 Long Colt" or ".45 Long"

I have the Stampede in .45 Colt. Want to get a Ruger for heavier loads. For those that have them does the Bisley grip allow you to manage the recoil better with heavier loads over the Blackhawk grip?

Take Care
