I picked up a 460V a little while ago.
I first got to shoot one earlier this fall when I took my club holster course(had a great time doing that!). The guy running the course has one and let me use it. I was planning to get a large calibre gun anyway and using his made up my mind for me. He then told me that S&W doesn't make the 5" barrel model anymore. So after telling my wife this(she knows I'm just not a fan of long barrel revolvers) she said that if I can get a 5" I might as well order one.
About 1.5 weeks later, I get the call, they got the gun, transfer is done, come pick it up.
I take it out to the range and after my first shot, everybody stopped their shooting and I hear one guy say "what the F___ was that!" Yeah, this thing gets attention. lol
The compensator does a good job of taming the recoil as well as the grips which have a squishy part that sits right in the web of my hand. It comes with a second compensator to use if you're shooting lead.
There's alot of steel in this gun. At the pressures the .460mag cartridge develops there better be!
This is with my 4.2" GP100. For all the bad talk about the Ruger's trigger compared to the Smith on this board, either Ruger has really improved them over the years or I just got lucky with a really good one from the factory.
While not the best pic, as it is just a screen grab from a cell phone video, you can see that this thing breathes fire
I'm still adjusting the sights as it shoots a fair bit low for me, but for now as long as I aim high it shoots very well. In single action(haven't shot it in double yet) it breaks nice and clean with a light pull. Like all guns I own it's more accurate than I am, or ever will be.
I'm not sure if it's because of the high velocity of the bullets but copper seems to line the barrel faster than any other gun I own. KG-12 makes quick work of that though.
It's a great "little" hand cannon
