New 6.5 from Weatherby coming

People are still chasing stuff Weatherby and Ackley did 50 plus years ago.

Then when Weatherby out Creedmoors Hornady. People get their jimmies all rustled. I love it.

It would appear that they are going to make this more affordable based on the msrp of the factory ammo stated. Probably won't see it on the shelves at walmart but it's not a bad thing to have a bit of space from the people of creedmoor/people of Walmart.

The case will likley be a good candidate for necking up as well. Maybe that's where weatherby is headed with it.

Maybe even neck it up to .277 or .308. That would be a real game changer.

they are advertising a 140 grain bullet at 3,000 FPS ( which is not hard to get with more than a few 6.5's) with a case that is not going to be cheap to buy ?
Whatever happened to the 6.5WTHBY mag- which as Guntech pointed out is anything but new!?!
Crap, another case of somebody designing something to sell to someone who thinks they need it!!

I suspect that these velocity figures are conservative. Judging by the size of the case it should be faster than initially advertised imo.

The whole thing is probably a joke...why would WBY deviate from their venturi shoulder... it's the only thing that makes them different.
I was always curious how that shoulder would perform on a short action fat target case though. They should come out with something like that.

If I were the company that prided itself on being the fastest I'd probably go after Nosler again and bring out the new (to standardization) 7x300 WBY to rain on the 28 Nosler's parade.

Its another one of the non belted standard case length cartridges that should have been in production years ago,

kind of like the 6.5 SAUM and 6.5 WSM they should have been introduced at their inception.

It will be a good cartridge, if Weatherby offers it in their Vanguard line up of rifles as well as the 6 lug Mark V it will sell......south of the border at least.

Nope no joke, I spoke to Adam Weatherby a cpl days ago and it will be introduced Sept 1st, its to be used specifically in the 6 lug Mark V Ultra Lightweight line up of rifles.

Looks like a great cartridge to me, I just happen to have a SS 6 lug Mark V action waiting for this cartridge, in the mean time Ill suffer using my  6.5 PRC

This is the best new hunting cartridge to be introduced in a long time.
Checks all the boxes for a North American hunting all rounder.
Long action
Fast
Flat
Has nothing to do with Walmart
Has nothing to do with the US Armed forces.
