New 6.5x47L Build from North Shore Barrels

I've shot the 6.5x47 with the CCI BR4s in +35 and -25 and its just fine. It sounds more like a personal prejudice due to unrelated events than an actual problem.

Very nice rig OP! A friend and I built 6.5x47Ls in Stillers back in 2008, both with 25" tubes I believe. The two loads it distinctly preferred (its in for a set back and rechamber right now) are 36gr of RL15 over a BR4 and under 123 Scenars. The other is 40.5gr of 129gr SSTs. Both of those loads are in the 2850fps range in this gun. I used 130gr Bergers as well for a time and they shot well jammed.

Great looking rifle. I'm considering a left hand build in this cartridge, so appreciate the good info in this thread. Any advice considered and appreciated, too.

I shoot a 6x47 lapua on a Branard action with Truflight barrel. Use the CCI small rifle mag primers and you won't have a problem. It is crazy crazy accurate.

Appreciate the compliments guys, although I have to admit I can't take credit for the look of the rifle since it's basically a copy of the GAP Crusader. I had it built specifically to shoot in ORA/NSCC Precision matches and in the competitions I was able to shoot this summer it shot fantastic, including actually winning the 700m stage at NSCC. Load development took about 20 rounds, as everything I fed it was pretty much one hole. I ended up shooting 40.5 Varget with 130 VLDs and CCI BR4s at about 2850.

The plan was originally to have a Badger Thruster brake installed but I changed my mind because I wanted to have the option of a back-up rifle for F-Class. The recoil is actually very manageable, but I'm still thinking about getting a brake on the next barrel I need for it.

That will likely be what goes on the next barrel. Unfortunately I didn't have time this summer between shoots to get one installed (or more specifically the guys who were going to install the brake for me didn't have time), and I was advised against threading a button-rifled barrel after it had been finished because the muzzle could open up.
