Do a search under ARMTECH - Gaulin actions.

Regards,
Joe

I tried a search under armtech and have not found anything I have a guy's # in Quebec that told me about them I will give him a call he knows Gaulin personally so he may be able to direct me I will try and call Gaulin he could tell me what I need to know prices models etc something funny happened when I fireformed my brass I fired 29 of them and the case length shortened by .020" my bullets were tight in the lands and when I turned my necks I left a small amount unturned like I always do to make sure there was no headspace what might have caused this I know that they didn't shrink when I locked it up cause I tried a few before and remeasured them and they had remained the same .

Calvin I think I will be lucky if I can get 30 good ones out of 100 and that would probably be a good batch plus I need to practice afriend of mine back east is in to the ppc's and if I recall the last shoot I went to he only had 19 brass he only shoots the ones that hit at the same place saves the rest to match up with another lot of brass I know when I worked up loads for my 22br I only had about 25 out of 100 that were good enough to compete with and if I was going to be really fussy maybe 15 it is also a new toy so I need to get the feel of it I am having my lathe and mill shipped here in may so even if I would shoot the barrel out then I can give my whife an excuse to hang out in the garage.

I am really curious as to the thinking here?

What brass did you use? You might want to invest in the book by Glenn Newick. I may still have a few copies. If its 220 Russian its not unusual to have the oal reduce on fireforming. High neck tension with bullet seated firmly into the lands helps promote proper fire forming.

To avoid donuts when using 220 Russian brass it is best to neck turn to the junction of the neck and shoulder and then a few thou. pending the brand of neck turner.

I can't see how leaving neck material will assist in headspacing. Maybe I am misunderstanding something.

Your chamber appears to be a tight neck so use extreme caution when leaving the original neck thickness on a 220 Russ. case.

Out of curiosity who sold you the rifle?

### I have that book that is where I read to leave a bit of brass untturned near the shoulder I only left about 0.020" the bullet base was far from that so no danger of pressure build up also there was no signs of any pressure the primers were not flatened and the bolt opened lightly I think you are right about more neck tension though I may not have had enough I will try another 25 this sunday and I will seat the bullets to jam length and put more neck tension on the brass I was using lapua 220 russian I bought the gun from a james it used to be his uncles that passed away he had 4 ppc's I think his name was Ming I am not certain the rifle has a .262 neck and I turned them with a sinclair tool I still have some unturned but I am waiting to set up my lathe on the weekend it is a lot faster and I find it does a better job I also have a set of reamers in 0.0005" incraments I used one of them with a hand held guiding tool I had mad a few years ago to remove the donuts also with the lathe I will be able to grind the cutter to the angle of the shoulder which will avoid donuts Glenn Newick mentions 3 ways to form brass one wiyh no bullet and pistol powder with wax plug ,tight neck where you need to turn necks and using 22 bullets to form 6mm then turn necks after fire forming I wonder if there is a better of the 3.
