Does anyone know if there is a new commercially available rifle chambered in 7x57 or 8x57? I had high hopes for the new remington 798/99 series but it appears that they won't be available in these calibres...

I once asked wholesale if they could get the CZ 550 in 7X57 and they it would not be a problem but would take 6-10 weeks to get it in.

CZ makes a couple in 7X57. The 550 LUX, the 550 American and the 550 MC.
However you have to go to their international wed site and get the specific product number for Wholesale. They quoted me a cost of $900 C.

Now times have changed. I eventually decided to buy one off the forum here and was very happy with it. They come up now and again and gun shows often have sporters in that caliber. It is by far one of my favorties.

It is my favorite mid size caliber, I have purchased a few over the years. Then found a barreled action and had a custom stock made, bought some customizing bits from Brownell's - steel grip cap, checkered butt plate, barrel band and model 70 safety and it's fit to me.

Ruger recently also made their M77 Mk2 in 7x57

The Ruger's are nice rifles. I had a MkII in 6.5x55mm & should've never sold it! Currently have an older "tangsafety" Ruger 77 in 7x57mm and I am very pleased with it's performance...;)

Because of the 7 mm-08.

I like the 7x57 cartridge a lot! (And also the 6.5x55). Great cartridges! These have been more or less replaced with the 7 mm-08 Remington and the .260 Remington which can use shorter length actions. But the 6.5x55 and 7x57 work better with heavier bullets.

Better watch where you say that, K98. :(
Thems fighting words! :D
He's right though.
If it aint short action the big US companies aren't interested.
BTW, if you're after a 8x57 most of the major European companies make it, CZ included.
Personally though, if you already have a 7x57 I'd be recommending you look at the 9.3x62.
If you're unfamiliar with it google it.
It has real pedigree.....African pedigree! ;)

Don't you know its a mortal sin to dispute the al-time greatness of the 7x57?
Oh, certainly.
I don't think the 7mm-08 and 260 Rem should've replaced the 7x57 and 6.5x55.
It's all that bloody short action hype!
