New 870 Barrel on Old Wingmaster

I have an old Remington Wingmaster chambered for 2 3/4 that I would like to re-barrel with a new Express Deer 18" from Wholesale Sports.
I'm planning to use this with slugs and buckshot.
My question is whether the new 'Express' barrel will be compatible with the old receiver?

No problems, although the express barrel doesn't have the ball detent. It's no big deal, I just tighten the barrel nut a little tighter. Nice thing about 870's is that parts from a brand new 870 fit guns from the 50's. Remington got it right the first time. If the lack of a detent bothers you, there is almost always an older slug barrel on the EE, or you could have a smith put a detent on it.

I was able to throw a 14inch Norincrap barrel on my 1978 wingmaster with no issue.

The detent is an easy mod with a drill, tiny spring, ball bearing and a punch.

o-ring is supposed to work too but i haven't tried it. i just snug it up after every 50-100 rounds

Just purchase an 18" Police barrel and call it a day
