Just had a chance today to look at a friends new Remington 870 sportsman 12gauge 3inch .Man is sure looks alot cleaner then the express and I say a better job was done on the finish of the metal (gold plated trigger just like on all the new wingmasters was added ) Mahogany Laminate stock & a Fore-end W/Fleur-Di-Lis in the checkering look very good and the barrel has Twin Beed sights
He picked his up at Canadian Tire for just under $475 Tax in
And yes it came with 3 choke tubes

Having seen the new one's, they are a little better finish than the express models.

The 870 Sportsman of the 1980's was similar to the Wingmaster (blued, chromed bolt, aluminum trigger guard) except a lower grade of wood.

We carry them as well.

They are still an "express" (essentially - or way closer to an express than a Wingmaster), just have a little nicer wood with the fancy checkering, a gold trigger and like you note, they kick in the extra chokes (which is why they are about 100 bucks more than the wood express).

A good option if you are in the market for an 870 and don't want to chuck the money for a Wingmaster and they do look sharp for an entry level shotgun.
