I know that newer Remington 870 express are not nearly as well made as they were roughly ten years ago but does anyone know if that goes for all Remington models.
I'm looking into getting an 870 wing master I've tried to find older used wing masters but by the time I get hold of the person selling it , it has been sold . So I looking into buying brand new and was wondering if anyone knows if Remington's quality in all of their products has gone downhill .
I will be using the gun for the odd duck hunt and bringing it to the trap and skeet fields to show people you don't need to spend upwards to 10 grand on an over under shot gun. Cheers fellas

ALL mass produced shotguns have gone down in quality. a new Wingmaster beats the pants off an express but will not be as well made as an older Wingmaster IMHO.

I found an old Wingmaster, apart from being dirt cheap, the quality is amazing, even for the low end models. I don't think I've seen a modern shotgun that's as tight and smooth - this includes Benelli's. Overall, for about a third the price of a new police model, it's worth the wait - tell the folks at your LGS that you're looking for one.

Hunting season will be ending soon. There is always an influx of used guns starting around mid Feb. Your local gun store will have the best prices. EE is NOT the best place to look for a used wingmaster.

Old Remington = good
New Remington= not good
This evaluation is from extensive experience, I will never buy a new Remington product again.

I suspect there where more wobbly pops consumed than Winmstaers handled during this expensive trial period.
Opinions are like...... and I know mine stinks sometimes.
Best Regards,
Rob

Not to mention they made close to 11 million of these things and are still a good seller over 60 years later
Must be Junk :)
Not saying Remington firearms doesn't have issues but 870 wingmasters are not one of them so far. Most guys that complain about 870's own express versions not wingmasters
Cheers

I've had both vintage and new Wingmasters. I still have a new one (not because it was superior) and it's a beautiful gun. Still on the hunt for another vintage 12 ga. Magnum and 20 ga. LW.

Tried the Express a few years back and was very disappointed.

picked a new Remington Wingmaster 26" brl with chokes last year, it's a beauty and works great! Used it for geese, ducks and chickens. I like the chokes and the 26" brl for sure. It's just as smooth and nice fit just as nice as a mid-80's Wingmaster I have.

I bought one new wigmaster about 2008 is was ok when If ixed it, would not function out of box.
I bought thirteen new 700 in various configurations between 1996 and 2010, evey single one of them had issues needing repair to either shoot safely or just plain fuction: triggers that when adjusted under 6 lbs the gun would fire when closed
* failure to eject
* failure to extract
* Poor accuarcy
* scope mount holes drilled off line with bore
* I even saw one that would not shoot for another guy,the end of the barrel looked like it was cut off with an abrasive wheel, now crown but was blued and packed up for shipping
* TO date I have witness four 700's that when the bolt was a bit hard to lift from hot handloads, to bolt handle broke off
I have a 870 police gun with four barrels ranging from 18" to 34" built in 1984 its one of the finest pumps ever built.
In my opinion for the money range Ruger Howa, Vangaurd Browning Tikka all make better rifles.
