"At AUSA Remington Debuted a new version of the Remington ACR. This version is the model that the company plans on submitting to the Army Improved Carbine competition. It features a magnesium lower, with standard AR-15 grip and trigger guard, adjustable but non-foldable stock, carbine-length gas system, no quick change barrel (it has a new barrel nut), folding charging handle and new metal finishes. These changes help shave 1.8 lbs of weight from the gun. Photos and information are courtesy of TenPoundMonkey."

Oh No! Not another one I want! :) Any ideas as to eta to market?

From what I've read this may be the military-only version from Remington, in which case the answer might be never. On the other hand, they might be trying to lessen their reliance on Magpul for the polymer lowers and hand guard - since it looks like you can use any AR pistol grip and trigger guard. Bushmaster recently moved their factory, so it's anyone's guess at this point...

Ever since I saw this on ARFCOM I have been holding off purchasing an ACR. Really want that one!

I think think they also shaved some weight off of it and changed up the barrel attachment.

I`ll just have to suffer with my old, outdated first gen non-restricted ACR, I guess :D

I just ran it in a two day One Shot Tactical course here, and loved it. My only complaint was how front heavy it is with the 18.6 match stainless barrel. Maybe when/if these ones come out, I`d love to add a restricted one to the collection and see about getting a 12.5 inch barrel made for it...

Best part is the upper is the registered part, so maybe we can get the new aluminium lowers at some point. Wishful thinking anyway...

Very interesting! Any idea why it's the upper and not the lower that's registered?

You know Baxsun, this ####'s gotta' stop eh? If you need help I could refer you...The first step to a cure is admission that one has a problem :p

I believe (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that with the exception of the AR15 it's almost always the upper that's the registered component. But I'm certainly not complaining at this point, since the ACR upper has the quick change barrel system. And the aluminium lowers might be easier to get.

Yeah, I can't get enough black rifle pr0n. We probably need a self-help group...

Thanks. Best of luck with the affliction :slap:

I thought the lower was always the registered part??? It definatley is for ARs and it is for pistols as well(thats why you dont need to register 22 conversion slides). Any insight?

It's typically the frame/receiver. But if you look at the ACR, Swiss Arms, XCR - it's all the upper receiver (I'm mainly referring to black rifles). I'm not really sure what determines the methodology; I think they adopted the US format for the AR15.
