Just finished a basement renovation for a fellow Nutter and took this on trade for partial payment!

It's a Kel-Tec KSG (not sure if it is Gen 1 or Gen 2)

It came with a Magpul AFG2 Fore Grip

I added a Barska red dot that I had kicking around, and I have a set of pop-up sights on the way for it.

This is my first "tactical" style firearm... I think this is going to be addictive.

Such a wicked firearm.. I was confronted by a brand new game warden last month and he tried a very awkward attempt to act nonchalant and in a friendly way ask me about my shotgun. The look on his face when I said it holds 15 rounds was priceless. "That's illegal" etc..

One thing I discovered with my KSG and using a Magpul AFG2 Fore Grip like yours; if your fore grip isn't far enough forward on the rail then it will interfere with the release button at the front of your trigger guard (the back of the rail actually pushes the lever down when cocking it).

If you (or others) have an issue with cocking it this is a possible reason why, fixed by moving the grip farther forward.

I actually noticed the same thing about the foregrip. I was planning on attaching a flashlight to the bottom rail along with the Magpul AFG2, but the AFG2 has to be too far forward to leave enough space for the light... I guess I'll have to get an offset mount to attach to the top rail.

At least put it above the AR so you can use it off range! If I were you I would consider going a glock before a 1911, but a 1911 is a must. But if you are at all considering 3 gun, I think I would go with a glock 1st.

I already have a S&W M&P 9mm Pro, so no real interest in a Glock. (Bring on the M&P haters... lol) A 1911 is a must in any collection, IMO, so that is the next handgun purchase.

As for use off range with a Tavor, I live in NS where you can only discharge a firearm at the range or durring hunting season in the woods with the appropriate tags / licenses. I don't hunt, so I only shoot at the range.

Nice Andrew. You're going to love that gun. The enforcer brake is a great addition to it (if you're thinking of taming it down on full power slugs)

They are a fun gun aren't they? Not sure if yours is a gen 1 or 2 but mine is the exact same. I have held another one that had a rounded foregrip, don't know what other differences there are.

I think I will get an AFG as well, I find carrying mine in the woods tends to kink my wrist on the foregrip and the AFG should alleviate this.

Too bad about no room for a light with the AFG. I have a light/laser that works great on the KSG. Laser in thick dark woods with snow down for bunnies is wicked!

OP, great choice, congrats !! The one you got is gen 1. The second generation has a different handguard.
I got AFG on mine and it lines up with the front of the handguard, I really like how it feels in hand.

I thought I understood how to tell which was a gen 1 vs gen 2, but I am not so sure anymore. Tips or pointers, anyone?

edit: n/m, found out... apparently if you flip it upside down with the slide forward, you'll see a soldered lug that holds the mag tubes together. Just behind that should be a small plastic notch... if you can see the tip of a piece of metal in there, then you have a gen 2. FWIW the serial number on mine is X5V3_, I'd be interested to see what those of very recent purchases are.

Easiest way to tell the difference is by the handguard..

Gen 1.

Gen 2.

The new handguards are round at the bottom..

I've got mine in the mail! Ah! I can't wait to get it out the range, do you find you need a riser for your optics (anyone)? I'm about 6', with average reach. I was just planning on some flip-up irons, but now I'm not so sure, the optics look so ###y!

If you trim the AFG back a bit, it fits nicely a little farther back, allowing room for tactical stuffs:

The AFG is still very sturdy with the vertical brace hacked out.

Guess mine's a Gen1, huh? What functional difference is there?

I've heard the extraction can be crappy sometimes on the Gen 1, but that's all I know.

As for Optics risers, I did not need one. I put on cheap bushnell reddot and got Troy BUIS on it, and they cowitness perfectly, no adjustment needed.

OP, you will really like your new "little friend", I know I really like mine.

Although they are not as bad as AR's when it comes to what you can add/do with the stock gun, but there are some nice parts you can add to them that offer an improvement over the stock gun.

The first real practical add on, which I highly recommend if you are shooting the gun in colder weather, is the factory black kydex cheek cover. It just snaps on and it eliminates putting your face against the metal receiver.

As Shooter1of38 said, the muzzle break offers some recoil reduction, especially when shooting slugs. I find that the KSG kicks hard with slugs, or else I'm just getting old!

I tried an AFG, but found it didn't fit/feel right for me when cycling the action. I removed it and installed an hand stop at the front of the fore grip. I added a piece of Ergo rail protector to the rail on the fore grip and I find I can obtain a better grip with this setup.

To add a light, I like the idea blsonne offered of using an offset rail mount.

When I first got my gun I mounted a set of Troy sights to it. They worked well, but I found that when shooting and moving from one target to another the iron sights could be improved by using a red dot sight for faster target aquisition. I removed the Troy sights and added an Eotech XPS 2.0 to the gun. A RDS it works great.

Here is a photo of my "little friend"!
