New Alberta Elk Opportunity

Nothing says you can't donate meat to the food bank or someone else. Everybody loves Elk meat. As for the fire, not much to burn there, besides fence posts every couple of miles or so. :) Could be chinooking though, if you're lucky.

Not sure you can donate non government inspected meat to the food bank. I know they won't accept beef that has been processed by a mobile butcher shop, as they have a license to inspect their own.

The herds out there are bonkers huge, I've worked out there and seen them. 8000 - 10000 estimated on 'The Block'
It'll be entertaining how the Range Control handles the hunters; they are problematic at best, Range Control that is...
I'll be bringing the Power Wagon ( Road radio tuned to 'The Block' frequency and the PW is equip'd with Poor Man's Gin pole + 8000 pound winch) if I get something so it'll be drop 'em, Coupe de Grace and get off The Block.
Google search SIRC Suffield and you'll have a better idea what you are up against.
Patricia has a good hotel and is close too

P.S. - If you get drawn & if the dressing and butchering out of town isn't your thing, contact Deerview Meats (403) 527-2221 and ask for Perry, he'll help you out. He's a good guy and has a big top notch Abbattior; just get ahold of him ahead of time to ensure a spot

DND has twice the artillery that we can access and we have to come and do their dirty work, can I rent an LAV for a day?
All kidding aside me my cousins and uncle are all putting in for it cause then increases the chance we get one or more.

No real surprise.....an opportunity outside of regular hunting season with a high chance of success and no need to get permission. Only way it could be more appealing is if you could drive around in the warmth of your truck looking for animals.....oh wait............

We threw our names in separately...hopefully one of us draws but no surprise if we don't. Nice to see more opportunity opening up in this province.....2015 will be a record year considering what's coming in the fall as well.

So................any hints???

Some new elk, moose and goat opportunities coming as well as some extended seasons for upland birds and many ungulates as well as a spring snow goose season. An amazing amount of new opportunity......considering this government's record.

The municipalities I am told, are getting together to pressure the Provincial government to dramatically open elk seasons in affected areas that have "non migratory" herds

Archery only zones might contribute to a lot of that. Would be nice to have non draw elk tags in WMU's in the bow valley/kananaskis area. Probably draw bubba and the clan in though.
