New Alliant Powder Re17

Does anyone know if the new reloader 17 powder is available here in canada yet?it seems like the perfect powder for mid capacity cases and short mags.over on 6mmbr they are ranting and raving over it.it appears to be scarce down there also.

Doubt you'll find it in Canada yet. I had to search high and low to find it down here.

I asked Wes at Epps about it and if I remember correctly he said that it had been approved in Canada and should be available in the fall. This was in July. I would like to try it out in my 325 wsm.

Don't know about RL-17 but I do remember RL-11 and RL-21 from the 1960's.

Yes, there was a Reloder 17 many, many years ago. At the time, it was the slowest powder available from Hercules, and was quite coarse grained, making the density a problem in some cases. I burned a few pounds of it in various chamberings, and it was OK, but RL 17 languished when Norma powders became available, since their density was so much more favorable. The new 17 is a much better powder from what I understand. Regards, Eagleye.

Yes this was a more recent offering from Hercules/Alliant, that was discontinued about 7-8 years ago. Since it was such a stellar performer in the 222 Remington, I laid in a bit before it went out of production....doubt I'll have to search for more in my lifetime to feed my 222's Regards, Eagleye.

I too am looking for some reloader 17 but after phoneing around it seems a bit scarce.. I guess i will have to settle for R15 for now I figured if i was ganna spend $39 on a canister of powder at the local shop it might as well be a new flavour.
