Ladies and gentlemen what better way to celebrate then to spend my first pay cheque on a new gun!

I want to get my first AR, as the title would suggest. I cant spend too much, under $1500 on the rifle.

I was thinking the NEA-15 rifles, my purchase date will be around mid may to the beginning of june.

What do you guys suggest?

The other thing is the barrel length, I'm going to be completely honest I don't like how the barrel just sticks out for the NEA-15's which is why I might go for a shorter barrel if I choose that rifle but at the same time I don't want something shorter than a standard AR-15 and I would hope for the rifle to be as accurate as possible I'm not too familiar with the difference in functionality that a longer vs shorter barrel provides with these rifles.

I was contemplating a Norinco, I do like the company but I wanted something Canadian or American made for my AR, just personal preference.

I am complete noob in this area. I'm only looking for suggestions, perhaps someone's seen something I have missed or has had prior experience etc.

Thanks,

Edit: Ideally Id want the rifle for $1000-$1200, but I know this is perhaps not possible for what I ask for so the closer the better I guess.

With taxes in, the NEA is pretty much at the $1200 mark. Keep in mind that you will need sights and mags so that will add a litle more.

For the money and the fact that it is Canadian made, you can't go wrong IMO. I have to will admit I am biased as I love my NEA carbine :)
