I like the look of the 20rnd mags vs the 30 but I prefer the look of the "duck bill" flash hider over the "birdcage" (although it may not be correct). I'll get it installed one day....

Yeah, you really have to pick up an m14/m305, then a "modern" ar-15, then an old school pencil barrel ar-15. The difference in weight and handling is astounding.
 
Is there a Canadian source for the original 3 prong style flash hider? I have inquired at a few sources in the US, but none would ship to Canada. Thanks for any info.
 
The early pattern lower would be more desirable if one wants to have a true "retro" appearance. Presumably, Inter Ordnance is buying whatever receivers are readily available and low-priced, hence the use of A2 type receivers.
 
I wonder how many retro M-16A1 parts kit rifles there are in Canada. Old Colt or other manufacturer uppers and lowers would be nice to own. I just tried the Sportsman's Guide Canada website and was excited as the part kit showed up as being for sale in Canada for $620. I called and was told they cannot ship to Canada. Then why advertise the Canadian price??? I have always wanted one of these rifles. I wish I had had one overseas. I'd give my CZ-58 and two Czech crates of ammo for one if it was original.

I had an old Nork CQ311 done up in A1 furniture....it looked the part and shot very well, never should have sold it.
Currently building an A2 NM rig and its even a ##### to find stuff for.
 
I currently have a genuine armalite NM rig, A2 furniture with removable carry handle.
There is just something about 20" AR's that make me love 'em!

I wish one of the Sponsors such as Marstar or CanadaAmmo would import a batch of the Norinco CQ311. I am they would sell out. Many of us would like one of these rifles.

Dig around in parts bins at gun shows. You find them sooner or later.

I used to own one (sans the forward assist) very briefly back when they were unrestricted.

The first (and only) time that I fired it, I noticed the empty brass was filling up the open right breast pocket of my M-65 field jacket.

That was fine until one extremely hot casing landed in the space between the collar of the jacket and my neck.

Needless to say, I traded it away shortly thereafter and never looked back.

I have shot the A2 rifle of a friend in the States and liked it a lot better.

The only brass hitting me was as a result of my friend pelting me with the empties that I was ejecting onto his bench to my right.:D

Ah, the good old days, blasting away at the range with an SP1, wearing an M65, black watch cap, blue jeans and boots. Aviator shooting glasses. Those were the days.

I only like AR's in the old school config. They are so light and well balanced. Lazers and rails and optics etc Make it look cool but they are heavy and pointless in my books for a restricted range toy.

I just wish I could have found a pencil barrel with a 1 in 9 twist for the build. Had to settle with 20" Government profile 1 in 9 :(

Maybe down the road a ways....
