Hello.

I recently picked up an AR15. It's an STI lower, and a NEA upper. When I took it out to the range to sight it in, the first two shots were fine, however every shot since I'll have to manually eject it. When I do, it comes out cleanly (not hanging up or anything). I then fired the gun while watching the ejector... it doesn't appear that it's even attempting to come back. I'm shooting a 55g .223 round. The lower was used, the upper was brand new.

The upper is:
# NEA Upper
# S&J Hardware 11.5" .223 Barrel with 1 in 7 twist
# Daniel Defense MK12 Gas Block
# Daniel Defense Bolt Carrier Group
# Daniel Defense Charging Handle

I don't even know where to begin. I'm fairly certain it has something to do with the gas system... but other than that I'm kind of lost... if someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Thanks

... wait who said that!

Given the parts list he posted it's not a complete NEA upper, now is it?

Sounds like it's not getting any gas. Check the gas block and gas tube to ensure they're where they should be.

OP, who built your upper?

Yup, sounds like the gas block moved or another gas issue. I test fire all of the ones we build with 5 rounds before going out.

If you're concerned about doing anything to it, send it back to me COD and I'll get it looked after.

More just a lack of knowledge. I might get in touch with you after I try and look at it, but I'd like to avoid sending it back across the country if possible.

Just check that the gas block is correctly aligned and you should be ok.

A bubba-check would be to put a spent casing in the chamber and blow in the end of the barrel..clean it first. Rotate the gas block and you'll hear when it's aligned.
(For Ne(s/x)ter & Jwirecom.. we have all of our NEA-15 blow-tested in China prior to them being shipped to our customers. ;) )

... wait who said that!

Seriously?

Are you for real how does this become an NEA issue, an NEA stripped upper was used for the build and now this an NEA quality control issue - you are kidding :slap:

gadget

p.s. also Darren at One Shot is already going to take care of the problem - lets give our dealers a chance to address issues:ar15:

I fixed it. One of the front screws were pretty lose on the gas block. I tightened that, however it didn't correct the issue. I then loosened it, and pushed the gas block back a 1/8th of an inch, and tightened it back up. That corrected the issue. I only fired off a few rounds as I was short for time, but it seems to be working fine now.
