Supposedly designed for more serious long range AR use; interesting read:

Sounds very interesting.
As it happens, I have a .224 light Palma barrel ordered that I was planning to set up as a .22-.250 for VLD bullets.
But I also have a PT&G 6.8 bolt body tucked away for a rainy day.

Just remembered that I have a PT&G trigger guard unit that accepts AR magazines. That would go nicely with a bolt action .224 Valkyrie.

Since building my first AR (10.5” 300blk) earlier this year I’ve got an itch to put together another with a longer range focus. I like things that are a bit different/uncommon so recently came across mention of this cartridge and it’s piqued my interest.

So, what's going to be needed other than standard AR15 upper/lower receiver parts? New mags, bolt and barrel?

The velocity of a 90gr pill out of a 20" barrel according to one source is approx 2700fps. I wonder what the velocity would be with a 69gr or 77gr SMK and what the barrel life would be before it starts opening up.

I kinda want one...

JP Rifles, Larue, LWRC, and Airborne Arms are some companies who are already making parts/complete rifles for this round. Federal has factory ammo out now and Hornady is supposedly set to release a version soon as well. A Larue offering below:

yawn. Another wildcat dreamt up to fit within the limitations of the AR-15 platform.

There are about a dozen 6mm + options I’d look at before this thing.
And of course it doesn’t tackle the fundamental issue that if one is shooting to 1000yards they are turning to a full-bore round in the first place which equals AR-10.
Now if someone created a way to increase the OAL an AR can take (new mags and magwell) but kept the majority of AR-15 dimensions, it would open it up to real innovation.
