New ArmaLite AR-24 pistols in their production configuration.
There are two shots of the basic gun in its production state, and the 1st photo of a prototype for the "Special" model intended as a competition gun. On that picture you can see the checkered back strap and adjustable rear sight. The AR-24 pictures show several of the upgrades over the base Tanfoglio. The front sight is dovetailed from the side. This means replacement sights will be available for various purposes. The extractor is heavier than the traditional one. Front cocking serrations are absent, while rear serrations are on a widened slide section for easier grasping. Mark Westrom wanted the slide to look much like a Sig P210 and to preserve a clean appearance without excessive cuts to the metal. Of course these guns are forged as was originally stated by ArmaLite. You can also see the magazine base plate is metal rather than the plastic used by Tanfoglio. In the shot of the Special model the firing pin retaining plate is visible if you look close. Grips are the current version, but ultimately Mark intends to replace those with a quality rubber model more like what CZ offers. Wood will be available as an option. The guns will likely still fit CZ-75 leather as the lines are pretty close.

It's not available anywhere yet. The slide is styled after the Sig P210, and I think it captures it rather well. They really do need to do a proper roll mark, instead of the dot matrix engraving, because that's ugly. If the trigger is anything like a Baby Eagle, it'll be a great success.

I'd be interested in buying one. I'm a big fan of Armalite. :)

I'm not a CZ75 fan at all, fired a few of them, didn't like any of them. The baby eagle is about as good/advanced as the design gets IMHO.

These Turkish CZs are actually well-made and stylish. And they surpass the Baby Eagle. This Armalite offering makes it look ugly when most Turkish pistols are gorgeous. I like the Shark FC.

As for price, they are costly in Turkey, about 1.850 to 2.340 YTL, about $1400 to $1750 Canadian. NOW I hardly expect the Armalite pistols to be more than 1/3 of that. The Witness line is just too popular for that.

I always thought that "AR" was short for "automatic rifle" and that's why the model designation was originally used by Colt. Armalite, of course, would use the same name when creating their AR clone, but then why "AR-24" for a pistol?

Nope, and it does not stand for assault rifle. It was an abbreveiation of Armalite.

Made in Turkey? No thanks. I'm not buying a floor rug. Besides, how many CZ clones do we really need?

Shhhhhhh.... be vewy, vewy quiet... you don't want to be called a gun snob again... lol... :p

I like the looks of it... But I am a CZ and BHP fan. Made in Turkey or not, I'd take a serious look at one if the price was right. Would be uber cool if it took CZ or BHP mags, but guess that would be too much to ask for...
