At least if it was a seperate piece....plastic, pot metal, whatever.....if it broke you could replace it. If that breaks, you need a new stock.

As already mentioned....gravity.If you shoot alot, eventually guns get dropped, fall of the bench when cleaning, or fall of the rack or bench at the outdoor range.
