My Volquartsen arrived today with the help of Clay at Prophet River (thank you for your help)

Very pleased with it, but I am amazed with how short and heavy it is.

Here are a few pic's I took today in the back yard.

And here are a few pic's of the yard and my lab rolling around :D:D

You so need to post a range report on that rifle:eek: How much to get it imported? Volquartsen has a take down version I would love to get into Canada;)

PS Nice yard:D

Thanks!:D You can see my play set. It was approx $296 to get it imported.

I asked for the compensator be removed and capped. I have the comp so if I really want i can screw it on but from my experience they just get all gummed up and dirty.

Nice rifle, I envy you just a little bit now. Oh ya, better put your flame suit on, there's bound to be at least one person telling you it's way too dangerous to shoot that .17hmr semi with all the ammo recalls. :D

I'd say something in a magnification range of 16x-18x in the upper end. I also like really fine reticles for HMRs~the caliber lends itself to shooting small targets way off in the distance. :) I also like to see what I'm shooting at, and even some premium scopes like Vortex's I've seen have heavy/wide-looking crosshairs.

I just bought a Millett TRS-1 scope (16x) for the .223 I have on order. Really like this scope for the money, and having tried one on a friends HMR, I should have got one myself for MY HMR when I had it. Very fine, mildot reticle. For what it's worth, I really don't like the look of tactical-looking scopes on hunting rifles, but the scope is the only one I've found with every feature I want~including really nice glass, that is in my price range.

I hesitate to even chime in on this question, considering the $ you have in that rifle, you may be looking at scopes above/beyond my price range. (and experience) Good luck with whatever you choose and for heaven's sake, get that beautiful rifle out for a shoot...or send it to me! ;)

^^ LOL. I don't want to spend crazy amounts on a scope but I do know I want a Leupold. I was toying with the idea of a silver VII 4-12X40 AO but you may be right, this is not going to be a walking rifle so maybe more glass is needed?

At 12x, you (I mean, "I") can just barely see the bullet holes @100 yards. Didn't matter much to me, as I hunted with my HMR..it wasn't a range gun. At any rate, AS a hunting gun 12x is enough scope in my estimation, but HMRs have enough reach to warrant more power. I'd say 15x-16x is perfect, but 18x isn't too much.

Just my opinion.

Just re-read your post~I must admit, when you posted about this fine HMR semi...and I noticed you were in AB, I naturally assumed it was going to be a high-volume gopher mower. :)
