New at this: what’s the difference between MDT and Cadex chassis?

MDT recently released some more pics of their new chassis.

I think it will make a big splash in the PRS community based on some of the trends that appear to be emerging.

After reaching out to Cadex with the issues right out of the box with my chassis I was requested right away to send my entire rifle to them as it "could not be a problem with their chassis system". I denied that request as it would've caused me to miss a couple matches. After saying I would just sell the chassis and buy something that works I was given the measurement points needed to check if the chassis was at fault, Patrice had a new part sent out to me right away so I was happy with that. I received my new parts the night before my next match and had exactly the same problem. The new part was exactly the same as the old as it wasn't verified to be in spec before being shipped out to me. After another request to send my whole setup to them I was ready to wash my hands with the Cadex chassis but received a phone call from Patrice telling me that there was an issue with the mold that was used for the chassis so we had just discovered a issue that would effect a lot of cadex customers. I received an upgraded part and the chassis finally functioned properly. Patrice was excellent to deal with no doubt about that but multiple requests to send my rifle in because it couldn't be a Cadex issue is a deal breaker for me. Just my opinion of course.....

Doesn’t sound so bad. I think it would have been a lot easier for Cadex to identify the problem if you had sent your rifle in.Either way they did their best.

Ya it may have been easier for them if I had sent them my rifle but why would I want to be without a rifle and miss 2 matches... and once the issue was identified you would think the specs of the new part would've been verified before sending it to me just to make sure but as I was told it couldn't be the chassis and had to be an issue with my barreled action.

I've put a few rounds through a rifle in the new chassis and it's hands down the best chassis I've tried for PRS-type shooting, which makes sense since it was designed from the ground up specifically for that. It's super stable, balances really well and settles super fast on bags on barricades.

From a pure aesthetics point of view, it reminds me of a blend between an lss xl gen 2 and and ess, with a twist of desired features for competition.
If i’d compete i would consider it, being a casual plinker, and in my opinion only, the ess is nicer looking

The ESS is a nice looking chassis for sure, this new one is kind of an ugly MF IMO but I can tell that it is designed with functionality in mind.

I would like to try one out.

I got the Cadex chassis but my rings were too low so I just took the front rail off until my higher rings came in.

Cadex:

I do really like the cadex Chassis. They are fantastic with a couple of downsides.

1) Heavy
2) Expensive.

Very well designed, solid and works of art. I have two Cadex rifles along with two Remington rifles in Cadex Chassis. Top notch.

The Cadex stuff is military grade. They co own the patent with Remington for the chassis on the M2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle that won Remington the latest US military bolt action sniper rifle.

In terms of customer support. Fantastic. I have spoken with Patrice on a few occasions regarding a 50BMG order. I have nothing but excellent things to say about him. When dealing with someone like Patrice, it makes you very comfortable with your purchase.

I'm a big fan of the lite strike and dual strike chassis systems. The field / Core etc aren't my cup of tea. But I'm sure they offer what many want.

MDT:

I've been watching these guys since they first started. Local and offer a lot of cost effective options that are decent. I was never a fan of the tac21 which looked to mimick my AR10 rifles in a bolt action. But it was a good start and priced well. Not my thing but many happy customers.

It wasn't really until the LSS hit the market that I started to take notice. The gen2 version I like even more than the original. Along with their new butt stock designs. However a few things kept me away from these stocks. The lack of a folding option which was promised for ages, showed up and disapeared. Plus LOP issues with a folder and various AR stock choices or even the MDT stock option. It was close, but not perfect. There were too many variables to watch out for.

The ESS. This has caused me to take yet another look at MDT. Along with the gen 2 LSS. If they can get the folder and LOP along with look/durability etc right then they have a very nice looking and interesting product. The ESS is aesthetically very nice and offers a nice chassis option. I may go that route for a Savage 10TR that I have. I just need to see some folders on these along with final price.

In terms of customer service. I have never dealt with MDT as a customer. I did however run into a MDT employee the other day heading out for a rifle competition. Not a lot of time to talk shop, but there was some. Straight forward guy and made a good impression.

Currently my thoughts on the two:

If you're going for a full out high end tactical rifle with folding chassis, then the Cadex is the way to go. It isn't inexpensive but the value is there. It's top notch.

If you want something, maybe lighter for specific competitions, and less expensive (for Savage 10TR type rifles perhaps), then the MDT is worth checking out. In some cases it might be the better option. I would like to see how their folder options are shaping up.

Looks great. The colour combination looks very sharp. Competition stock? Very nice combination. I can't see you ever second guessing that decision!

MDT supports local and national competitions. They care about their customers and take feedback well on any product improvements.
MDT has donated Chassis, mags and other accessories to the PRS and other matches around the country.
CADEX chooses to focus any support to 1 or 2 matches down east... and forget about giving them any feedback, being told to F** off from the guy on the phone with CADEX is an awesome potential customer experience .

Support those who have a great product and even better customer service and support. MDT for the win.

I have probably asked ever company across the country to support the Meaford Match over the past 3 years. I can tell you that several "Western" companies would not support us because we are out east. All these companies from MDT to Cadex, Albeta Tac, PGW, to all the small shops get asked for free stuff every day. I have found you need to show them a ROE for there donation. When there prizes show up on the exchange the Monday after the match these companies notice. It really pisses me off as a MD as well.
If you really want to insure a company never supports your match slam them online and at your matches, guaranteed they will never give you anything.

It is great what you do for the sport but you have not been privy to all of the conversations that have occurred and what ROE has/had been promised.

If you read all of the info it wasnt the fact that they said no. It is the fact that they said they would follow up and then never bothered to respond. Being told "no" is fine and a fact of life - being ghosted on is something else...
