boy some of you guys are???????? the hi-point I bought shoots well. Yes it is ugly as sin but fairly low recoil >45acp. A cheap first gun to see what you like. If you get one break it in with jacketed bullets before you go to lead. buy one and use the extra $600 for ammo or get a norc too.

By all accounts, they seem to be fairly good reliable pistols. Personally though, I think I would save up to buy a Glock. A used Glock 17 can be had for about $200 more if you look around.

"...there cheap guns..." Where?
You get what you pay for. However, Hi-Point does have a lifetime unconditional warranty. That doesn't mean there's a Canadian warrantee shop.

Thanks GUYS on all the info. I do have a 22 S&W and a 9mm Norinco .Got them both from Badger Arms and have NO problems yet! I was looking for a cheap 40cal and at $249 + tax & shipping verses $379 + tax and shipping for a NP-58 40 S&W ???...cheap and cheaper

If you want to hear from folk who actually use them, go here. Yeah, they're ugly, whatever, they work.

Funny thing when you read that forum, everyone who doesn't love Hi-points, is a gun snob.
