I bought an ATI stock this afternoon, I did want an archangel but hey I'm cheap. So... I don't much like instructions but being a tradesman am usually pretty good. Man this thing was the biggest pain in the butt to put together and I can get the bloody hand guard cover off of the gas tube.. Anywho rant over

the handguard pin is the hardest parts to remove ^^ you need a punch and a big hammer , if im correct this pin is taper do some reading and find the good direction to punch it out you should be able to find that in the faq of the sks

In my experience the hardest part is getting the trigger group to sit right.. First time I got it in no issue and then I noticed I needed to install the rails (oops). Took 2 hands, some swearing and a hammer to get the thing to pop out again and it practically flew. (In the end a quick shave fixed it)

I cheated and got a gun smith to install mine. I'm happy with the results. I wouldn't have the SKS with the wood stock like most people like to do due to the weight and lack of functionality. The SKS isn't pretty to begin with - it's a hammer - so it doesn't have to look good, but it better have some modern accoutrements.

Try Drilling.....

I Tapcoed my SKS yesterday and after much frustration decided to drill it out... I used a slightly smaller bit than the pin itself so as not to over drill into the metal, once I was through there was a little remnant of the pin left but it tapped right out. The new pin went in nicely and I flattened out both ends with a vice grips, then filed down to fit. Worked like a charm.
