New ATT regulations?

My transfer has just been completed. While I was on the phone I asked about getting an ATT. She said those come with the new licence that I'm getting, if all is use it for is the range. Did I misunderstand?
 
If this is your first restricted, they will send you a new license with "Conditions" attached (a piece of paper). The conditions include transporting to the range, gun shop etc.

Interesting, when I took the course a few years back it was still different. It's nice that their making something easier for once
 
Yip, it such a wasteful thing to get a license and then be issued a new one, exactly like the first one except that it now says PAL####x.0002 instead of .0001 and "Standard and non-standard conditions are attached to this license" Then you still have to wait for the gun's registration papers to come.

Heck, I took the course in Feb and the course instructor told us to apply for an ATT. When I bought membership from them online, they sent me a partially filled out ATT application and instructions on how to complete and send in. This was in April after I got my PAL. It is indeed very confusing. Confusing to buy if you don't know about these rules and confusing when speaking to the CFO when they inform you of how it's now working.
 
All that happened is one piece of paper got swapped for another. When the changes were made, the Liberals made a big stink about now we can transport our restricted firearms to a shopping afternoon at Walmart, soccer fields and *gasp* through a school zone any time we want. Will somebody please think of the children!:runaway:

I am waiting to see if I will get a new card or not. I had a restricted before C42, but I never had an ATT. When I joined a range after C42, I called the CFO and they "updated my file to add the conditions" electronically, but I was never sent anything paper which has always made me a bit leery. I have now made my first restricted purchase since, and it was just over 4 weeks for the transfer and another 2 weeks for the registration to arrive. We will see if a new card shows up in another 2 weeks.
 
I'm just nervous of thinking I'm set to go to the range. Then getting fined because I missed a detail...

they told me my new card "with attached conditions" was in the mail last September. still haven't got it. don't really care. might be a hassle if I get pulled over however that doenst happen very often.

Had my RPAL already
...
Bought my first restricted and next day went for 3 weeks vacation (in April)
When came back - 3 letters were waiting - 1) new RPAL card with conditions on the card carrier 2) notification of transfer 3) registration certificate

NB! Not all situations are covered by the attached ATT conditions, there are plenty of them one still needs to obtain an additional ATT for.

Nothing to worry about - they won't fine you - if you screw up, it's a Criminal Code violation, they'll charge you. Seriously though, I've owned and transported restricted firearms for 30+ years and the only people who have ever seen my paperwork are me and the office that issued it.

I went through the same thing, and no, you won't get a new card until next renewal. At that time, it will have the conditions on it. In the mean time, you need to have that piece of paper with you.

During the phone call with the cfo I was told their printing me a new one, I hope they will
 
Just had a chat re similar situation(s) with Ontario CFO office

1. If you are going to a range with a borrowed restricted/prohibited (even from a family member at the same address) and the owner is not present - call CFO and they will issue ATT (for a day or a weekend)

2. If you just received a new restricted and have Transfer Notification (Buyer) only (no Certificate yet) - it is possible to transport it to the range (by the owner only), the TN serves as temporary Certificate)

3. If you just got your first restricted and not received your new RPAL (with Standard and non-Standard Conditions) - still possible to go to a range, of LEO gets involved - ask to run your RPAL to confirm
that ATT Conditions are actually attached (if you got new RPAL with these Conditions printed on the card carrier and the carrier is with you - no need to run your RPAL through the system)

At least this what we got out of the conversation ..
