Exactly. I know of no competitive shooters that would ever dream of using barrel nuts. Shouldered barrel swaps - if the barrel contour is right - can be done without taking the gun out of the stock, or without even removing the scope. It could be done literally in under a minute.

I must admit that changing barrels and scope rails on a Barnard is very nice. You can switch things around and be wacking it at 1000 without much trouble. I hope to be shooting the Eastern matches with a new secret weapon that I have been talked into by our head sales guy. He tells me that I will clean up (yea right!). Problem is that since I am disabled it is a tough job for me to manage more than a day of shooting at a time. I used to be a tr shooter and have been on a number of Bisley teams but it can still be a bugger of a day for me and a day of shooting takes me a couple of days to recover!

This is how my 40X will be setup. I can have it shoot two .308 barrels depending on bullets at hand, 6BR or switch barrel and bolt be shooting .223 or 6PPC. My long range Rem 700 build will be eventually setup for .260 AI, 6.5x55, 6.5x55 BJ Ackley IMP and .284 or 7WSM.
All it takes is one minute and I'm in Open or F/TR class or back again. No need to headspace. It's all been done at the shop.
Ian, you rock brother... - Never mind this "disabled" stuff, you may have steel where others have shoe laces, but our sports are a far better place because of you. I only thank the maker that you are not an F-Class shooter, as a bunch of us would have to lurk on "canadainbowlingnutz.com" out of pure humiliation.

Diver that looks gorgeous. Once you get it sighted in I think you should come and spend a day (or two) at Springfield doing load development and testing at 900m (and maybe even 1000m just on general principles).

I would love to take you up on you offer to go shoot at Springfield for a day. I was there once before with you and I had a great time and it was an excellent learning experience.
Most of my shooting has been at 600M and less. I have only shot 2 matches beyond 600m thus far. I do not have a location to practice beyond 600m other than when there are matches at Batouche, CFB Gagetown. It would certainly be nice to confirm my loads at 900m prior to going to Connaught in July. Maybe we can try to set a date in May. By then I will have decided if I intend to be a 223 or 308 shooter for the 2011 season and should have a few loads worthy of more testing. We could do so by PM.

Very nice rig combo All you need is Some Lapua Brass get the palma for your .308 save some time in load development you only need Varget for both, hope you shoot, 223 at Easterns I am lonely shooting 223 everyone is shooting those plain vanilla .308 LOL

308 barrel still has a bit of life in it and the 223 barrel has around 500 rounds through it, I would have to check my log to get exact numbers. Gave up on 223 but may try again later if new bullet offerings come out Been away from shooting for the last 4 years due to changes in priorities but will be shooting some matches this year.
Recently installed a JC Custom Barrel 29", 10 twist, heavy Palma contour. Extremely pleased with service I received from JC and the barrel he provided. Load development to start shortly which is the true measure of a barrel but based on feedback from other shooters using them, I am confident I will be driving many V-Bulls with it. Barrel was chambered to shoot Berger 185's or 200-20x.
I had the feeling I hadn't seen that rifle around before but the 4yrs away explains that, hopefully we'll see you in NS someday for our APM, a few of us will go to NB this year for 1 or 2 matches there. The Inter-maritime match is a lot of fun if you haven't had the chance to do it before.
