New Barrel Options

If you had to re-barrel a Glock, what are your options?

I have seen the ones from Storm Lake and Lone Wolf, are there others? There seems to be a bit of a price difference between the two, is there also a difference in quality or customer service?

For those that have been down this road, are you happy with the end result?

I ended up with a LoneWolf (actually I ended up with two and sold one) 40-9mm for my Glock22 and couldn't be happier. I didn't like paying Canadian prices which is almost double what it goes for in the US. No jams or hiccups out of about 300rnd down the pipe so far.
 
Lonewolf, Storm Lake, Barsto, and Wilson Combat are the 4 you're most likely to run into with the Barsto being hardest to find.

Glockstore lists factory replacement barrels so that's an option to, unless you want to swap out to shoot lead, then you're better with one of the above.
 
I will have to look up the Barsto and Wilson Combat. Never heard of Barsto before now. I have seen WC firearms but didn't know they did pieces.

And of course it's more expensive up here. If its fun, yer gonna pay!

I had an IGB barrel on a G23. Very very nice. I never had the chance to compare it side-by-side with the Lone Wolf or Storm Lake, but all reviews I read clearly stated that the IGB was superior to both. The chamber was definitely more supported than stock Glock barrels, that's for sure, and the machining and finishing were both beautiful.
 
Wow, even more options?!

sporteque.ca does carry some of the IGB barrels in stock and would definitely simplify the ordering process.

efkfiredragon.com has a wide selection of barrels available and also sells some nicely done compensators that match the Glock slide profile.

Re-barrel to what and which Glock? Are you looking at a conversion barrel or a straight replacement for the original barrel? I have both IGB and LW. Both work perfectly and no difference between the 2 except for finish, plasma coated or stainless and cost.
 
Glock in question is a 23 Gen4 (.40 S&W). I would like to keep the caliber the same but need about 4 extra millimeters if I ever want to bring the thing home from the US.
 
I would just order a LW stainless barrel from Questar. One with the black finish wears off on the LW way too easy. Even though the black plasma finish is equivalent to the Glock barrel finish, the quality of the finish on the IGB is nowhere near the LW. I have a 40-9 conversion for my G22 and 106mm for my G19 and both of them have lots of machining marks on the breech faces. None whatsoever on the CNC machined LW that I have, ghe finish is perfect. The new LW logo doesn't look as bad as the old one but you can request to have it blind marked if you wish. But, bottom line is, other than finish, no problems with either barrel.

-IGB
-Storm Lake

I have had Bar-Sto for other brands and they are exceptional, never had one for a Glock though.

Lone Wolf? Are we serious, better than IGB? I have owned and quickly disposed of several Lone Wolf ("LW") barrels, and two needed REPAIRS to function properly. Ramp needed polishing and relieving, etc. I may still own one, I'll check. The black finish wears off promptly and sloppily, where the IGB barrels I have wear like the factory original -- barely at all. Don't bother with the "LW" black finish if you're going to waste money on one of those.

Bargain brand worth buying: Storm Lake. IGB will actually ship to North Amerika and will sometimes give good deals directly. You can order from their website.

EFK is worth avoiding, they are simply an awful and inconsistent product. Don't buy.

Read my post again. I said that the machining finish on the LW was better, not that the LW was better than the IGB. To add to this, has anyone dealt with Carmen Schranz at IGB? She is the reason why they have the worse customer service in the world.

Sorry: No reading problem. The function on my LW was awful. Wouldn't feed, needed the ramp both polished and relieved. I think that would qualify as machining. I had to take metal off the top end of the ramp to reduce the angle. Very scary.

Carmen ... try speaking German with her. They like that there.

If LW made consistent product (still MUCH better than EFK), I wouldn't be so down on them. Brand new G19 barrels that don't feed, with the wrong ramp angle, not a good thing. The barrel I still own is a .40 S&W and that one works just fine, unaltered. The finish is flaking off though.

Never a problem with Bar-Sto, Storm Lake, or IGB barrels. I have built pistol barrels (only as big as 9mm Para) and expect someone with CNC gear and a distribution network to do a better job than I do with a manual machine in my back yard.
