New beretta apx-a1!

Got my Apx a1 today, so far it looks to be okay nothing more. Backstrap change are a pita, field stripping too. Edge are sharp (frame rail are razor sharp, almost cut myself oiling them) and finish is meh, look like cerakote. Trigger is mushy as hell. Overall its okay, hope it shoot better than it look/feel. im glad i didnt pay 800$ for it like those PR sold. Now off to find optic plate lol

Thanks for your inital review, it would be great if you can post an update after a range trip. I'm still waiting on mine.

I have an A1 as well, don't agree with takedown and backstraps points. These procedures are very simple if an operator is familiar with the process. I do agree on the trigger and finish parts though. I'm going to upgrade the striker with a stainless steel package from GP Precision, it did improve trigger on my APX A0 noticeably. Finish is just functional, nothing fancy. I think $800 is an adequate price for an optic-ready and very reliable gun (one of the tests for Brazilian(?) military was firing 10,000 rds without cleaning and zero malfunctions were recorded).

Its a perfectly workable gun, but with all the choice one has when it come to polymer frame striker fired handgun in 2022, how is it acceptable to have to remove the slide from the gun to change a backstrap is just bonker. Just put a damn rollpin down there like everybody do and call it a day. And field stripping it might just be mine but its so stiff i have to lean my whole weight on a table corner to press it out. Again how is it acceptable when its not even an issue with every other gun. Sight setup is also weird i find, tritium night sight with a blacked out rear sight, good luck lining that up in the dark. Not an issue for us in canuckistan but still weird.

Alright so got to the range with it today with two boxes, 100% reliable no malfunction. Shooting experience is mostly the same as the first impression, its okay nothing more. Note that my optic plate hasn’t showed up yet so all ive shot is with iron. Mag release is nice, positive and easy to reach. Trigger after many dry fire cleaned up a bit, mush is mostly gone but its still super heavy. Trigger weigth feel similar to my sig p225 double action. Recoil impulse is not great, might be because ive shot mostly my glock lately and got used to it, but the Apx is flippy. similar to my PDP id say. Its not that bad but glock/s&w/cz shoot way more flat. Overall not a fan, never tried the A0 so can’t tell if its a worthy upgrade. Considering offloading it im still not enjoying it with an optic because right now i wont be grabbing that one often when reaching in the safe.

Also if anyone is looking for optic plate, stoeger has them in stock.

is it still on sale at $1600
To answer TT1900s abusive comment about lying. There was no lying… about anything I’ve ever posted or listed… and both of my APX sold. One on another site and one on here. They are cool guns and feel well made. If you want a unicorn, they’re about as rare as things can be with how few made it into the country before the ban. Pay what you think is fair based on that.
