I got a new beretta 20 ga. O/U , Siver Pigeon S and noticed that the safety was not wanting to say in the fire position and a slight nudge would send it back to the safe position. The dealer said it would work in after some use. Well, after a 1/2 a box of shells it got worse. When the first barrel would fire, the safety would go back to safe from the recoil. Sometimes even dry firing would cause it to snap back to safe. So, I basically had an expensive single shot. I had it couried back to the dealer and haven't got it back yet.

Anyone have any comments on this?

Your dealing is BSing you. That is the kind of problem that only gets worse. Just out of interest does or did this gun have an auto safety (gun goes on safe when opened?)

If these parts were taken out at some point this can sometimes cause the problem that you've described.

Agree....have 12 and 20 new 686 Silver Pigeons S.....did not witness the problem described above other than a condition of "stiffness" that usually accompanies a new component and gradually departs after some use.

Since i haven't shot it much, I can't remember but I just checked the book, all it says some models have that feature.

I remember the dealer said their gunsmith would put graphite grease on it to work it in quicker, and that it wasn't seroius enough to send back to beretta.

Yes, mine was stiff too when I bought it and worked fine for a while. I should have it back early next week and will post back here on how it turns out. I've never had a problem with a new rifle or shotgun before and it's ironic that the most expensive gun I ever bought is the one which has a problem.

The dealer called me today and informed me they are sending me a new gun. I'm glad because as stated in some of the posts above, it could be a problem which may re appear (after the warranty period)
